For which construction works is Ceresit CM11 glue used?

Now ceramic tiles are widely used for finishing walls, floors and facades. But no matter how good and beautiful it may be, an important role in creating a strong and durable surface is played by the glue on which it fits.

One of the most effective and popular tile formulations for laying various types of tiles and porcelain tiles today is the Ceresit CM11 glue, which is a dry mix. Its operation is allowed in conditions with periodic or permanent exposure to water, and also in the temperature range from -50 ° C to +70 ° C.

Characteristics

The popularity of this brand of glue from the German manufacturer Henkel is not accidental. Ceresit CM11 is characterized by high performance properties.

These include:

  • Good water and frost resistance;
  • Safety for human health, since it contains no toxic substances;
  • Possibility to prevent sliding of tiles (no more than 0.1 mm);
  • Incombustibility;
  • durability;
  • Simplicity of stacking.

Application area

The purpose of Ceresit CM11 is the fastening of ceramic or stone tiles, the water absorption of which is not less than 3%, and the size does not exceed 40x40 cm, on various non-deformable bases, namely: concrete, brick, cement plasters and screeds, both outside and inside buildings, Including some types of rooms with a constant high humidity.

Also it is used for laying ceramic granite (only for internal works), having water absorption of at least 3%. This applies to unheated floors located in rooms with small mechanical loads of both residential and public buildings.

Additional Features

The introduction of the SS 83 elasticizer into the adhesive mixture significantly expands the scope of the Ceresit CM11 glue. In this case, it is used for laying tiles of any level of water absorption and different types - ceramic, clinker, stone, and porcelain stoneware.

In addition, the bases and types of structures that are used for laying can be:

  • Plates of fiberboard, OSB and gypsum board, related to deformable substrates;
  • Cellular, light and "young" concrete;
  • Anhydrite and gypsum surfaces;
  • Painting acrylic coatings that have strong adhesion to the surface;
  • Screeds with heating;
  • Facades, socles and entrance groups of structures;
  • Steps of external staircases, floors on open terraces and balconies;
  • Exploited roofs;
  • Covered tanks;
  • Pools closed and open type.

How to use glue?

The composition of the mixture, which consists of ceramic Ceresit CM11, consists of cement, mineral fillers and polymer additives. This stipulates that the prepared composition can be used for two hours after breeding, and it is possible to adjust the tiles no longer than 25 minutes after laying. Grout joints are produced after 1 day (not earlier) after the installation process is completed.

You should also be aware that during the installation of Ceresit CM11 ceramic tiles, air and substrate temperatures are allowed from + 5 ° C to + 30 ° C, and the ambient humidity should not be more than 80%.

Consumption of glue

Before starting masonry work, it is advisable to know how all materials will be spent. And if the number of tiles can be calculated quite accurately, based on its size and surface area, on which it will be laid, then the glue is a bit more complicated.

So, Ceresit CM11 glue is chosen for laying tiles. Its consumption can be different, which is due to factors such as the size of the tile itself, the height of the comb teeth, the quality of the base on which the tile is attached, and the professionalism of the laying master.

There are exact tables where the glue consumption (kg / m2) is given, based on all these parameters, both with the addition of the CC 8 elasticizer, and without.

Average consumption of the mixture is 2.95 kg / sq. M. M. And more specifically, for a standard 25x25 cm tile with a comb tooth height of 8 mm, Ceresit CM11 tile adhesive is consumed in an amount of 3.5 kg / sq. M. M.

In the sale of the adhesive comes packaged in bags of 5 and 25 kg. Such packaging is very convenient, since it allows consumers both to transport and unload it without using special equipment and loaders.

Beginning the repair work, make an estimate and thoroughly consider what construction materials you will need and in what quantities. This approach to business will save not only time, but also a decent amount of money. If you are not able to calculate repair costs yourself, you can always use the help of specialists.
