Belgorod State Art Museum: description, history and reviews

The Belgorod State Art Museum is one of the youngest complexes on the territory of the Russian Federation, in which works of art of outstanding painters of the last century and the present are collected.

Creation and development

The history of the complex originates in 1970, when the hall for exhibitions was functioning here. The artists gathered at the meetings of the creative plan and passed on their works to the city as a gift.

The widow of the painter Dobronravova in the 1980s enriched the complex with 200 paintings of her deceased spouse, painted in colors and in the form of graphics. On the basis of this collection, the Belgorod State Art Museum began to develop rapidly.

New works were added to it, and already in 1983 the first excursion took place here. Employees of the complex began to improve it, purchased new copies from the outstanding authors and their children, contacted collectors and owners of art salons. The Ministry of Culture of the RSFSR participated in the development, stimulating the transfer of graphics, sculpture, applied and decorative works created by modern masters in the "Rosysopropaganda" - the Republican Art Center and in the association of them. In 1990, here began the complete set of icon painting works. The Belgorod State Art Museum keeps pace with the times, so from 2011 there is an exposition dedicated to photography. The administration tries to distribute the material in such a way that each category reflects a separate stage of development in the field of fine arts.

Expositions

There are two halls in which old works are regularly changed to new ones. The first is devoted to the 20th century, the second - to the present. Belgorod State Art Museum is constantly being improved and enriched. Visitors' testimonies indicate that, having visited here, people get acquainted with the color, moods and features of the epoch of the 20th century.

Since the prevailing style here is the realism inherent in the time of the USSR, it becomes as accessible as possible. Pleasure brings admiration of sculpture and painting from stock collections. In the collection of 1910-1990. Collected works written by famous masters of the subject-thematic picture: Kuprin, Osmerkin, Ivanov, Ossovsky, Stozharov, brothers Tkachev, Komov, Klykov, Tomsky and others.

In addition, the Belgorod State Art Museum exhibited works by masters, of whom little is known, whose canvases were not part of the exposition earlier, but worthy of attention.

The expositions of the second half of the 20th century are divided into categories according to various themes: a new history (pictures of the civil and the Great Patriotic War), romantic features inherent in the "severe" style, contemporary and its image (themes of time, personal development, creative activity, city) , The life of the rural population, the abundance of different nationalities in the population of the state, industrial development, construction, labor activity.

Having visited here, having got acquainted with the direction of realism of the 20th century, features of the era of the USSR and its reality, people get acquainted with the dreams, images and problems characteristic for this time.

II hall

In the second exhibition room, the Belgorod Museum of Art conducted a re-exposure, according to planned measures aimed at updating the stationary type allocated for exhibitions. As a result, the population received greater access to exhibits shown for the first time or exhibited infrequently. There were 6 sections.

They are dedicated to the picturesque, sculptural compositions, artists of Belgorod, graphic, folk decorative and applied works of the 21st century. The sixth exposition, called the "Art Parish", is intended for a children's audience. It was opened in 2015.

Considering the collections of the 21st century presented here, along with the works of the last century, visitors get an opportunity to trace the dynamics and direction of changes in artistic processes. Between the epochs there is continuity and an indisputable connection, reflecting the search for the optimal style and manner of execution of works.

It is interesting to compare the techniques and materials with which the work was created. One of the most original sections is an exposition devoted to decorative and applied art.

Here are works of Rostov enamel, lacquer miniature paintings, stucco and pottery from Belgorod, Skopina and Suji.
