SINLIS: what is it, where, how and for what it is obtained

Even 15 years ago, we did not know about the existence of an insurance certificate. Today, the question of what is SNILS, and how to get it, worries almost everyone. This document is necessary to get a job, register with a polyclinic, put a child in kindergarten, arrange it for school, arrange benefits, receive a pension. However, why this evidence is so important, and that in general it represents itself, not everyone knows.

SNILS - what is it and what is it for?

Under the abbreviation SNILS there is a rather long and complicated name: "insurance number of an individual personal account". In everyday life it is also called an "insurance" or "pension certificate" - this is the same name light green plastic card containing data on the place and date of birth and directly the insurance number of the citizen. The SNILS was introduced in 1999 with the aim of passing through the definition of citizens in the pension insurance system. Recall that mandatory pension insurance is the compensation of earnings received by a person throughout his life until he reaches a certain (retirement) age. Initially, data on the insurance period and contributions paid to the personal account were only grounds for the appointment and recalculation of the pension. However, as early as April 2011, the insurance number is applied as an identifier of a person receiving any state and municipal services, from medical assistance to preferential travel.

Getting SNILS - what does it give?

Since SNILS contains information related to social insurance, in addition to the already mentioned pension provision, it is used to obtain all sorts of free public services: treatment, training, and assignment of benefits. At the same time, on the basis of evidence, privileged registers are formed.

It is planned that soon the SNILS will replace the whole package of documents: insurance policy, certificates of beneficiaries, travel card, student card, etc. Moreover, with the help of the certificate it will be possible to make an appointment with a doctor, pay medicines, treatment and even buy plane tickets.

In addition, SNILS is the key of the user on the website of public services, informing about the procedure for obtaining a passport and providing social assistance, tax obligations. With it, you can print the required forms, saving time on filling them.

How to get a certificate of insurance?

What should I remember when I get the SNILS:

- that this certificate is now received by absolutely all citizens of the Russian Federation, including newborns;

- that it is possible to receive SUNLS independently or from the employer;

- that the certificate is issued to citizens for life and is subject to replacement only if it is lost or changed personal data.

To get the SNILS yourself, you need to apply to the Pension Fund (by residence permit) with a passport and / or birth certificate. After filling out a special questionnaire, the citizen will need to wait (one or two weeks) until the certificate is ready. On newborns, usually SNILS is issued immediately upon treatment.

Working citizens have the right to receive SUNLS from the employer by filling out an application form when applying for a job. In this case, the deadlines may last for up to one and a half months: after the employee completes the questionnaire, the employer must provide it to the pension fund within two weeks. Fund for the opening of a personal account and the creation of a certificate is given three more weeks. And a maximum of a week after receiving SNILSov the employer will have to give them to employees.
