Selecting paints for wallpaper under painting
In each of the three groups of wallpaper (paper, non-woven and fiberglass) there is a type intended for painting. In this case, two reasonable questions arise. First: "Why do additional work - to glue the wallpaper first, then to paint them?" Second: "What paint for wallpaper under painting should I buy?" The first question can be answered thus.
Paints for wallpaper under painting
In stores now a huge selection of colors. For work, such waterborne paints as acrylic paint for wallpaper, silicone and silicate are used. When buying wallpaper, ask for instructions. It indicates which glue to apply for gluing, what color to paint the wallpaper. Paper wallpaper in rooms where walls will rarely be exposed to external effects, can be painted with acrylic water-dispersion paint. It gives matte whiteness.
Other paints for wallpaper under painting
Glass-fiber wallpaper can be painted with any paint, including alkyd enamel. It creates a wear-resistant moisture-proof film on the wallpaper, which allows you to repeatedly wash the surface using detergents. Disadvantages of the coating of alkyd paints: violation of the microclimate of the room (complete moisture-airtightness), toxicity during application and drying. It is not recommended for painting the wallpaper in living rooms.
When choosing fiberglass, you need to take into account their texture: the weakly disappears after applying the paint in several layers. Water-dispersion paints are the most ecological, but less durable. Where there is no need to wash the surface often, this indicator is not so important. The best water-dispersed paint will be latex-based paint.
