How to insulate the floor

A warm floor in an apartment or a house is the dream of almost everyone. The most accessible way is to cover it with linoleum, which has a heat-sound-insulating base. Such a coating can be used as a carpet, it is enough to lay it on the floor. It is possible to insulate the floor by the flooring of two layers of wood-fiber boards or sheets, first soft and then hard, followed by covering with parquet, tiles or linoleum. Often the floors of apartments on the first floor are cold due to the fact that the underground is not built sufficiently qualitatively. Sometimes in such cases it is sufficient to plaster the foundation from the outside, and also to close the ventilation of the underground for the winter period.

How to insulate the floor?

You can make double insulation, consisting of two decks - black and clean, - leaving 150-200 mm between them. Black floor is usually made of thick boards, stacked in dowels, which are selected in the beam. The elements of the flooring must be attached to each other very tightly. If this is not possible, then high-density paper or parchment should be placed on the flooring, so that the filling is not spilled (and it is customary to make it from dry river sand). The backfill layer must be at least 50 mm thick.

The next option for floor insulation is carpet. Such a coating is made embossed or smooth. Its surface is impregnated with the use of a special composition, which allows it to be wiped with a damp cloth using a detergent. The original appearance and color of the coating will be restored with this kind of cleaning. In addition to these qualities, the coating has excellent thermal insulation.

How to insulate the floor: alternatives

The process of thermal insulation with a fiberboard usually begins with the removal of skirting. Further on the floor, sheets of fiberboard are applied and nailed, and on top of the plates a carpet covering is laid with the use of glue. Before the coating, the coating is exposed to a couple of weeks deployed in a warm dry place. During this time, it settles and aligns. To save glue, the slabs are smeared with intersecting lines with a pitch of 200 mm. The roll of coating unfolds as it is pasted and pressed with dry boards. The joints between the pieces are made by means of cutting. The edges of the pieces, superimposed on each other, are cut through a ruler using a shoe knife. Cuttings must be removed and joints glued together. At the joint, the width of the adhesive strip must be at least 100 mm in each side. When the glue dries, it will be possible to nail a plinth.

Understanding the question of how to insulate the floor, it is worth remembering about such a novelty as warm floors, which are a system of cable heating. It includes connecting and heating cables, as well as sensors and temperature regulators. In this case, a heating cable is used as a source of heat, laid in a concrete floor and connected to an electrical network, which allows it to radiate evenly soft heat. From corrosion and damage, the cable is protected by strong insulation. Warm floors are very easy to install. To begin with, the base is covered with a layer of thermal insulation, after which aluminum foil is laid. Now you can lay the heating cable, and then pour all the concrete. The layer of concrete should be a thickness of 3-5 centimeters. Then you can lay linoleum, carpet, laminate, tile or other coating.

No less popular method is the insulation of the floor with polystyrene foam. This method is good because foam is an affordable and inexpensive material, unlike a system of warm floors. It is laid on a flat base, after which it can be filled with concrete or covered with boards.
