How to fill the liquid floor with your own hands?
When it comes to replacing or renovating flooring in a dwelling, you have to choose from such a variety that the head can go around. What does the market offer? And laminate, and traditional wood, and the use of different types of linoleum, and even the liquid floor. With your own hands or with the help of a team of craftsmen, you can easily transform any room.
Why choose self-leveling floors
What factors need to be addressed? Of course, the height of the ceiling is important. If it is insufficient, it will be problematic to use floor laying on logs, because this will reduce the volume of the room. For such rooms, the ideal solution can be a good linoleum or liquid liquid floors made of polyurethane.
Is the renovation in the nursery? What could be better than a multicolored coating with a 3D effect? Sequins and pictures from your favorite cartoons, stains or geometric patterns in an optimistic color scheme - any ideas can be realized by pouring the liquid floor with your own hands. The main thing is to follow certain rules.
In the living room and in the bedroom, in the children's rooms and in the bathroom, with a volume effect and just a single-colored pouring of liquid floors can become the highlight of any interior.
Is it possible to "pour" the floors?
- Dry finished cement compositions ;
- Products based on epoxy resins;
- Polyurethane;
- Cement-acrylic;
- Methyl methacrylate;
- Synthetic.
If any liquid is added to the floor during the dilution, the composition will be stronger and more resistant to moisture. Usually, this technique is used in the installation of floors on an industrial scale or in the construction of swimming pools. All these mixtures differ not only in composition, but also in price: synthetic expensive, and cement cheaper.
After dilution with water in the proportions indicated in the instruction and preliminary preparation of the basic floor, the mixture is poured into the required surface in small portions, observing the technology. The methods of filling are similar to each other and have slight differences. A couple of days after hardening, a liquid warm floor is obtained.
Preparatory work
If you intend to fill the floor with the remains of ceramic tiles, you must first remove all the fragments that are weakly held. The resulting voids should be cemented with a cement mixture. After hardening, the entire old surface is degreased and covered with a special primer. This is necessary for better adhesion and to prevent the formation of bubbles on the finish surface.
How to fill with a wooden floor
- Completely remove varnish and paint mechanically;
- Large nazhdachkoy or polishing make the board rough for the presence of furrows and scratches, which will improve the coupling with the bulk composition;
- Careful removal of dust and dirt;
- The old floor is dried;
- It is recommended to use an additional reinforcing nylon mesh;
- Pour the liquid floor on the wooden floor should be as thick as possible, as this will reduce the risk of cracking during operation.
The rest of the process of working with this building material does not differ from the application of the liquid floor to the concrete screed.
Technological features of this method
All work on pouring liquid floors should be carried out at plus temperatures. The room should be heated to at least +10 degrees. Otherwise, the composition will flow at a slower rate, which will affect the quality of the coating.
When installing the floor in sanitary rooms, liquid glass can be added to the casting mixture. This refers to the pouring of the cement mixture. Thus, accidentally spilled water will not leak through the cover down to the neighbors, but will remain on the surface.
It is very important to glue a special tape around the entire perimeter of the premises during the preparatory work. It should bend around all corners, pipes, openings and reliefs of door jambs.
Why you need a cushioning layer
To save money, pouring the liquid floor in the bathroom, sometimes use a heat-insulating or propylene film with a thickness of at least 10 mm. This must be done to create a shrink layer. It softens the inevitable deformation in the course of temperature changes or shrinkage of the load-bearing structures of the house. The availability of such depreciation is a guarantee of the durability of the filler coating.
Useful qualities of liquid glass
You can list the advantages of a substance for a long time, which, in fact, is an aqueous solution of sodium silicate. It is obtained after roasting, crushing and subsequent dissolution in water of a mixture of soda and quartz sand.
The liquid glass for the floor is no different from the one used in chemical, soap, textile and engineering industries, in agriculture and medicine. In construction this substance is used for waterproofing foundations, walls, swimming pools. It is recommended to add this universal material to the cement-concrete mix when installing the original screed before pouring the liquid floor with your own hands.
If the ceilings and walls of the room are treated with such a composition, fungi and mold are never formed in it. In addition, this substance will provide excellent refractory protection for any material, whether wood, fabric or cardboard.
How to make an excellent cover?
So, how to fill the liquid floor? Carefully prepared base is sufficiently dry and cleaned to a shine. The entire surface is primed, the damper belt is thoroughly laid. Level beacons are arranged and the final marking of the territory is made. Preparations for aligning the composition are prepared-wide toothed and narrow spatulas. There are special rollers for piercing the liquid mixture and releasing random air bubbles, as well as shoes on a special sole, so as not to damage the raw covering of the feet.
Now you can build a working mixture. This is done in strict accordance with the instructions of the manufacturer. To begin with, the container is filled with water, only then a dry polyurethane substance is filled in small and uniform portions. Stir it can be with a drill and a special nozzle.
If you do the opposite, and pour water into the composition, then lumps may form. This will adversely affect the quality of the coating. The mixture is prepared as it is used, especially if the work is carried out in a room with a large area.
Is that all?
Usually, liquid floors are poured in two stages:
- First, a first layer of a larger thickness is applied to the screed;
- After its complete drying, pour the second, finishing layer.
If you want to get a three-dimensional image on the floor, do the following between these two steps: the selected pattern is printed on a special film, which is fixed on the "shirt" of the first layer. Then fill the picture with a final transparent composition. The release of randomly generated air bubbles is necessarily carried out. At this stage, rollers with small needles are used. On the newly poured and leveled section rolled with this device.
It is important to take into account all the described moments. Otherwise, the result may not be as perfect as expected, because technology is almost a law!
