Growing radish: how to get a good harvest

Radish is one of the fastest growing crops among other vegetables. Cultivation of radish is made both in the open ground, and under a film. For a season with a single crop, several crops are obtained. Cultivation of the crop is very simple, because the plant is resistant to cold. However, the best temperature for the development of the vegetable is 20 degrees.

Growing radishes are produced everywhere, but many gardeners do not always grow standard root crops. Culture often blooms, goes to the shooter, because of which it lacks root crops. This is due to the excessive density of crops, prolonged low temperatures, and also because of the dryness of the soil.

Well-drained fertile soils are needed to plant seeds and produce a rich crop. It is not permissible to introduce fresh manure before planting. This will lead to the formation of a vast green mass. Cultivation of radish in spring is performed on sunny areas, and summer planting is best done in slightly shaded places.

Plant beds can be done already in mid-April. By technology, the ground is poured with hot water and dumped with a bayonet shovel to full depth. After that, make peat, compost or humus (2-3 kilos per square meter). From mineral fertilizers should take a spoon table nitrosfoski. When all the useful substances are in the soil, the ridge again needs to be digged with pitchforks, aligned and slightly compacted.

Radish cultivation is carried out in grooves depth of two centimeters, the distance between the rows should be 10 cm. After watering the soil with warm water, you can proceed to sowing.

For better yield, large seeds are selected that have good germination. They can be dosed in advance in half a day or cast into the rows dry. In the early stages it is better to produce radish in a greenhouse.

After 5 days after the germination of the shoots, they should be weeded out, the deformed weak shoots should be removed, leaving only beautiful, healthy ones four cm apart from one. After that, the root crop is poured from the watering can - 2 liters of water per meter of area. After a while, when the ridge is worn out, a small loosening and hilling of the plants to cotyledon leaves is performed between the rows.

To get a healthy radish, cultivation must be combined with the introduction of preparations from pests. To fight fleas of cruciferous plants, before hilling and loosening in the interstices, pour the ground red pepper or dry mustard (1 teaspoon per m2). At the initial stage, water is often needed, in small doses of 2-3 liters. During the period of rooting, humidification is reduced so that no one grows.

Harvesting can be done 25 days after planting. Late in this case is not recommended, because the plant will go to the arrow, and the root crops will become rough. Therefore, the radish should be released in a timely manner from the tops and packed in plastic bags of two kilograms. Keep the harvest in a cool place.
