How to fill the floor in the garage?

When building a garage, the main stage of work begins with the pouring of the floor. Most car owners are trying to pour concrete floor for the sake of economy. The advantages of such a surface include not only its low cost, but also impact resistance, in addition, concrete is not afraid of moisture, which is also a very important factor.

How to fill the floor in the garage? First of all, you need to determine the type of soil on which your building will stand. If these are soil soils, then special rules must be observed to ensure maximum strength for the concrete screed.

To begin with, it is necessary to prepare the base for the screed, for this it is required to compact a layer of sand or gravel (or clay), the thickness of which should be more than 15 cm, but a layer of such thickness is allowed. After this, waterproofing works are carried out using roofing material, hydroglass, or polyethylene film. In the latter case, you need to choose a thick film and stack it in two layers.

Before you pour the floor, you need to think about creating a warming in it. To do this, you need to place from above 7 to 10 cm of insulation, for example, from expanded polystyrene. Next, lay the reinforcing mesh, which will serve as an amplifier for the future concrete screed, and also will prevent the cracking of the floor. And, finally, pour concrete screed, while it is necessary to withstand a height of 10-15 cm.

How to pour a concrete floor? When manufacturing concrete, it is necessary to adhere to the ratio in which cement and sand will be added, 1: 3, 1: 4 or 1: 5. Remember that you need to level the poured concrete to avoid a lot of air in the solution, which will lead to cracking.

For leveling the floor, you can make another surface screed that is two to three centimeters thick with a liquid solution.

But before pouring the floor, remember the need to create a slope, which should be 1.5-2%, that is, 1.5-2 cm / 1 m in length. The direction of the gradient is to the gate or to the grate. It is also necessary to create gaps near the walls, which in the future will help with the warming of the garage.

After pouring the floor, he needs time to dry. Further, it can be treated with an epoxy coating or polyurethane coating, or covered with a special paint. But if you do not want to do this, you can do without additional costs. But nevertheless it is necessary to consider, that there is a necessity for creation of a rough surface that the best coupling of wheels with a floor was reached. It should be remembered that after coating, it takes about 28 days to dry.

How to make the concrete floor more durable?

To date, a fashion topping system, which is much cheaper than liquid seals. What it is? These are hardening mixtures that are used to change the performance or decorative characteristics of the coatings.

What are the toppings? Cement of high quality, additives, various color pigments and plasticizers. Thanks to the pigments, you can give the floor a different color and shade.

Advantages of choosing toppings: they reduce dust generation, which is inherent in any concrete floor, help to increase resistance to wear, as well as to mechanical damages, which is a very important attribute for the garage. In addition, they improve the lifespan of the concrete cover by an order of magnitude. Topping is not affected by chemicals, and care for it is very simple.

How to fill the floor with the addition of a topping system?

Remember that the topping system can be applied only after the concrete floor is poured, after forty minutes from the time of the grouting. The mixture must be poured onto concrete and leveled as much as possible.
