Pouring the floor in the apartment

Repair of an apartment or a separate room in it is worth starting with the leveling of the floor. Because of its quality depends not only the interior of the room, but also the durability of the floor covering. Moreover, floor pouring using special building mixtures is not very difficult.

Types of mortars for floor pouring

The market of building materials presents two main types of self-leveling floors from different manufacturers. This is a fast-hardening screed and a self-priming finishing mix.

The filling of the floor with a quick-acting screed is designed for leveling the surface horizontally. This kind of building mixes is used to create only the draft version. In practice, the obtained base is not suitable for finishing with floor coverings, since it is not even enough and can lead to deformation and destruction of coatings, especially linoleum and parquet.

The purpose of the finish mix is to give the final floor an ideal flat surface. The result of finish finishing mix is perfectly suited for all types of flooring, since it has no flaws in its structure.

Floor Filling Technology

In order for the floor to be filled with quality, it is necessary to initially prepare the working surface. The old substrate must be cleaned, rinsed and dried. After this, apply a primer to it. Priming the surface will allow for better adhesion between the layers of the new and the old floor, and also remove the dust residues.

The next stage of the work on the arrangement of the floor is the installation of marks. This operation is performed using the building level. It is at this stage that the horizontal is displayed. If the area of the room is small, then the level of filling can be noted on the walls of the room. If the area of the room is large, in order to improve the quality of work, it is recommended to install beacon profiles, through which it will be possible to adjust the horizontal plane of future floors throughout the space of the room.

Almost everything is ready to be filled with a fast hardening screed. But before doing this work, you need to determine the need for reinforcement. If the floors in the room are not subjected to heavy loads, and the thickness of the layer of fast-hardening screed does not exceed 5 cm, then in reinforcement there is no urgent need. Otherwise, reinforcement should be performed to avoid various deformations during operation.

The dry fast-hardening mixture is diluted with water in a prepared container, after which it is mixed until uniform. Pouring the floor with a quick-setting screed is performed between the beacon profiles. Since the resulting mixture is thick enough, a horizontal T tool must be used to align it horizontally.

The final alignment of the new floor is carried out by the finish mix. Dry composition is mixed with water until homogeneous. Pouring the filling floor is very simple and does not require additional tools, because in their composition, such mixtures have special additives, which allow them to spread evenly throughout the space. The thickness of the leveling layer is at least 3 mm.

When the floor is finished, he is given a few days to dry. If there is a high temperature in the room, the drying solution must be wetted and covered with a film, otherwise cracks may occur due to uneven moisture evaporation.
