Cups of the USSR on football were held in the period 1936-1992. The drawing of the trophy ran parallel to the games of the championship. It was attended not only by professional clubs, but also by amateur groups. In total, the trophy was raffled 51 times. This competition was very popular among fans of all teams. The victory in the USSR Cup was equated to the winning of the championship title. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Cup of Russia was held . Cups of the USSR on football most of all won the capital's "Spartacus." The last time, interestingly, the rally took place after the division of the USSR.

Rules for conducting

Cups of the USSR on football were often subjected to some changes. The structure itself changed insignificantly. Significant transformations occurred only in the grids of the tournament.

Since the foundation of the cup to participate in it had the right to amateur teams of sports schools. To get directly into the main stages of the competition, it was necessary to have good results in the city or regional championship. This rule was valid until 1957. After that, amateur teams were not involved in the tournament.

Cups of the USSR and Russia on football begin with preliminary rounds. Clubs from the lower divisions take part in them. As the tournament progressed, representatives of higher leagues were drawn. To fight for the Cup of the 1st League of the USSR on football were connected at the stage 1/16 of the finals.

The system by which the Cup of the USSR was implemented is the Olympic system. Each match was held at the crash, that is, the club, which was defeated, flew out of the match. The winner was determined in one match. In the case of a tie, a second game was played at the opponent's stadium. The replay was performed up to three times. In 1950, the rule was adopted, according to which in the second leg the result was determined with the help of extra time and a penalty shootout. The same system was used as the basis for the final game.

Serious changes occurred in the 70's. According to a new rule, the preliminary stages were carried out in a circular pattern. Also, football clubs were divided into the accommodation area. For further participation in the drawing, it was required to take the first or second line in your group.

Cups of the USSR on football were originally held in accordance with the system "spring-autumn", in simple terms, within one year. Primary games took place in the spring, and the final and final - in the fall. The changes occurred in 1984. Under the new regulations, the Cup began in the fall, and the end in the spring.

An interesting point is that all the finals were held in the stadiums of Moscow.

The first draw of the trophy

The protocols of the USSR Cup on football have always been an integral part of this tournament. In many ways, thanks to them, it is possible today, after many years, to see how the meetings were held.

The first draw of the USSR Cup began in June 1936. 94 teams were fighting for the opportunity to get such a coveted trophy. At the same time 28 were professionals.

Opposition teams began in the 1/64 stage. This stage was filled not only with amateur teams, but also with strong enough and experienced clubs, such as, for example, "Dynamo" (Batumi). To identify the winner of the pair "Locomotive" (Kharkov) - "Wings of the Soviets" had to conduct two replay. The collective of Kharkov was more successful, and he moved on to the next stage.

The first owner of the cup - the Moscow "Locomotive" - took part in the competition with 1/32. In that draw the team showed a brilliant game, skillfully beating their rivals with a large score. The most difficult and at the same time memorable was a match against Dynamo from Kharkov. In the records of matches for the USSR Cup on football was recorded a huge number of cards and six deletions. Then scored only one ball the player from the Moscow club with a penalty.

Many strong teams made their way to the finals. Separately, you can distinguish "Dynamo" from Tbilisi. The team was able to bypass the Moscow "Spartak". In the 30-40's the most productive was this club, so the fans of "Dynamo" were very happy with the victory.

In the final of the draw, the Moscow "railwaymen" and the Tbilisi "Dynamo" met. "Lokomotiv" was able to win with a clean score and, thus, became the first team in history to which this title was submitted.

Achievements of "Spartacus"

Many current fans of the Moscow "Spartak" did not find the amazing game that the club demonstrated in the last century. Cup of the USSR and Russia on football, the protocols of which are still kept, abound with the name of the capital club. In the period from 1930 to 1950, "Spartacus" was too tough for most teams and often pleased his fans with various trophies and achievements.

The club's coach at that time was Peter Popov, and later he was replaced by a specialist from Estonia, Albert Volrata. Many trophies and achievements the team received thanks to these trainers.

For a short period of time, "Spartacus" took this prestigious title four times, which failed to any other club. Until 1960, the Moscow team was stubborn and won the title in 1938, 1939, 1946 and 1947. In this period, only two times they were able to raise the title of the players, "CSKA", and also once "Dynamo", "Zenith" and "Torpedo".

The most interesting ending of that time can be called the game in 1946. In the struggle for the cup season, Moscow "Spartak" and the Georgian "Dynamo" collided. The club from Tbilisi was able to take the initiative in the match and score two goals in the first half. It seemed that the outcome of the game was predetermined, but in the second half, the red and white managed to reverse the course and, having scored three times, took the trophy.

1950-1960

If before 1960 in the competition shone only Moscow teams, in particular, "Spartacus", then after the beginning of a decade of teams from Ukraine. Excellent representatives of the "Dynamo" from Kiev and "Shakhtar" from Donetsk, who alternated, won the USSR Cup. To the place will be noted and the Lviv "Carpathians", which in a bitter struggle could get this title in 1969.

It should be noted that at the beginning of this period, Far Eastern teams were more likely to be noted. For example, in 1968, surprisingly many, Pakhtakor made their way to the finals, which was stopped only in the final by Moscow's Torpedo. Meanwhile, the team from Uzbekistan was considered the main favorite of that meeting.

Climbing teams from Georgia and Armenia

Until the 70s, only teams from Ukraine and Russia could fight among themselves, easily beating others. Everything changed in the 1970s and the 1980s, when Armenian and Georgian clubs started a serious struggle for the USSR Cup. In this period, two times the "Dynamo" from Tbilisi and "Ararat" from Yerevan managed to win the trophy.

Also, special success in the Cup of the USSR was able to achieve the Kiev "Dynamo". In 1985, the team managed to win the seventh time, and after only two seasons the club got the trophy for the eighth time.

USSR Super Cup

The USSR Super Cup, or, as it was otherwise called, the Season Cup, was a tournament that took place between the teams in 1977-1988. This trophy was played by the owners of the USSR Cup and the champions of the country. The tournament was not very popular and was conducted irregularly. The last time he was played in 1989. Attendance was only about one and a half thousand spectators.

The collapse of the USSR, and with it the tournament

By the end of the USSR Cup began to change and its rules. The tournament was held at that time according to the scheme "autumn-spring". The first owner of the title under such rules was "Dynamo" from Kiev. In the matches of the Ukrainian team then shone Salenko and Luzhny. Thanks to these players, the Kiev club easily defeated the capital "Locomotive" and got another title.

The draw of the USSR Cup of 1991 was marked by a stubborn win of "CSKA" from Moscow. In the final, "CSKA" had to face the capital's "Torpedo". The fate of the cup was determined at the last minute of the match.

The final trophy was held after the collapse of the USSR in 1992. The last owner of the Cup was "Spartacus", which confidently won in the final, "CSKA". This victory is quite symbolic. After all, "Spartacus" is the club that has the most winnings in the cup, namely ten.

The most effective

It's no secret that the most exciting and interesting tournament in our country is the Cup of the USSR and Russia in football. All matches, the protocols of which are available to everyone, turned out to be dramatic and unpredictable. Every year I remembered my owner of this cup. Here are the most effective clubs in this competition:

  • "Spartacus" (Moscow) was able to become the owner of the USSR Cup ten times.
  • "Dynamo" (Kiev) - nine times.
  • "Torpedo" and "Dynamo" from Moscow won the title six times.
  • "CSKA" (Moscow) has five Cups of the USSR.
  • "Shakhtar" (Donetsk) was able to win the USSR Cup four times.
  • "Dynamo" (Tbilisi), "Ararat" (Yerevan) and "Lokomotiv" (Moscow) took the cup twice with them.

Once, many clubs in the Soviet Union managed to win.

Cup of Russia

After the collapse of the USSR, the Cup of Russia came to replace. This competition has not undergone huge changes. The only big change was the participation of only Russian clubs. Also a significant innovation is the choice of venue. Since 2009, the Cup final has been played not only in Moscow, but also in many other cities of Russia. Amateur clubs can take part in the tournament, which could take a high place in regional competitions and get a certain license.

The competition is held according to the scheme "autumn-spring". At the same time, because of the huge number of participants, the first games are held back in April, that is, before the final of the current draw (usually in May).

Winning the tournament the club receives not only the title, but also a ticket to the Europa League. This happens, of course, with some reservations.

The greatest number of times the Cup of Russia went to the Moscow "CSKA" (seven times) and "Locomotives" (six times). Then go "Spartacus" with three titles and "Zenith" with two.

The current owner of the cup is "Lokomotiv" (Moscow).
