Predictably the port serves ships with general cargoes, which go under different flags. The constant clients of the company are Turkish and Maltese ships. Not so great is the arrival of container ships, but the dynamics of their service is growing every year. At berths # 16 and # 17, ships servicing mineral fertilizers and metallurgical products are being serviced. At the berth № 18 the largest container ships come in (it is quite possible to service a ship 280 meters long with a total payload weight of more than 58 tons).

The open joint-stock company Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port is equipped with modern mobile crane units with a lifting capacity of 40-125 tons, portal mechanisms (under the weight of which loads from 10 to 60 tons) and a bridge type crane (10 tons). The company operates about a hundred special trucks. The average time for unloading the car with coal is from one hour to 90 minutes. In addition, ore, sugar, oil products and other bulk and general cargoes are transshipped.

History of Education

In 1838 Novorossiysk was founded as a port. It was the sea trade that became the determining factor in the development of the economy of this locality. At first there was a single pier made of wood, there were no attachments. A significant push in the development of the port is connected with the completion of the construction of the Novorossiysk-Tikhoretskaya railway communication. The co-founders of the Vladikavkaz railway were connected to the construction of the port, planning to complete its arrangement for the opening of the station.

At that time the main processed cargo was grain, which was transported from various parts of Russia. To optimize the transshipment of this raw material, stone and metal barns were built. The trunk line with conveyors, carried from the elevator to the pier, facilitated the working process. In the following years the Novorossiysk seaport continued to develop actively, mastering the transshipment of various cargoes, including oil products.

Soviet time

In 1920 the enterprise was nationalized. Through the port there were loads for the Volga region, where there was a catastrophic lack of food. During this period the company was awarded two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor. Toward the end of the twenties, the cargo turnover increased, and up to 400 or more vessels passed through the berths. By the fortieth years, the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port was equipped with four areas for loading and unloading, a coastline, an import and a cement section.

During the Second World War, the enterprise received significant damage, most of the warehouses and equipment were destroyed. But already in 1944 it was practically restored, after the decision of the State Defense Committee on resuscitation of the first stage of Novorossiysk port. Twenty years later the second wide berth was launched, and in 1978 the construction of the Shesharis, the harbor for transshipment of oil products, was completed. This structure is enclosed by a mole and an oil pier, the depth reaches a maximum of 14 meters near it.

Modernity

Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port after the collapse of the USSR underwent a large-scale reorganization with an orientation toward market relations.

State management, guaranteeing safe working conditions, overseeing the implementation of laws and regulations, is carried out by a federal institution called the Administration of the Novorossiysk Sea Port. More than 80 subjects of the economic sphere operate on the territory of the organization.

Production activities are carried out by the Novorossiysk Sea Port Group, which includes the following enterprises:

  • Novoroslesexport;
  • The Novorossiysk port itself, together with the Sheskharis harbor;
  • Ship repairing combine;
  • OJSC "IPP";
  • Grain terminal;
  • «Navy of NCSP».

In addition, the following companies are active: "Caspian Pipeline Consortium", "Stroykomplekt", "Maintenance Base", transport and forwarding enterprise and some other organizations.

Conclusion

The Novorossiysk seaport, the photo of which is presented in this article, is by right one of the most respectable enterprises for processing cargoes delivered by sea. Favorable geographical position, high production capacities allow increasing the turnover and efficiency of the company every year.

The port works continuously, unloading, loading, mooring operations are carried out during the storm warning or their suspension taking into account weather conditions and observance of safety precautions. Pride and one of the most effective blocks of the port is the oil terminal "Shesharis", during which over 1.2 billion tons of oil products were handled (about 25.5 thousand tankers). In addition, the port is actively transshipping bulk, bulk, container and general cargo.
