Who is the radical in general and in Ukraine in particular?

The whole world has been watching the events in Ukraine for months now. You can hear different opinions about why it all started and who is to blame. Dear politicians dispersed even in the interpretation of who such a radical in general and in Ukraine in particular. Western officials said that the pogroms and armed seizure of buildings on the Maidan are just peaceful protests of people driven to despair. At the same time, they openly supported the neo-fascists and fed all those who were dissatisfied with the biscuits, without forgetting to remind Russia once again that it was not good to interfere in the affairs of a sovereign state . The situation began to look even more paradoxical when rallies of people began to be held in the eastern regions of the country, they did not recognize the new power, which they justly consider to be illegitimate. Western politicians immediately accused them of separatism and called them radicals. It is very difficult to understand the intricacies of political intrigues, but you can try. To do this, you need to understand what the term "radical" itself means and whether it is worth fighting with people who are ranked in this group.

Who is a radical?

In every society, no matter how perfect it may seem, there are problems. They can be solved in various ways, but the most effective is the implementation of reforms. The restructuring of any social formation, be it politics or economics, is impossible without the participation of ordinary citizens. At the same time, each of them sees his way out of the current situation. One group of people, usually the largest, tends to change gradually. Another part of the population believes that the implementation of reforms in this socio-political system is simply impossible, therefore, it must be destroyed. Such people are just called radicals. Their number, as a rule, does not exceed 3% of the total number of politically active citizens.

The concept of "radical" in itself should not bear any negative meaning. Everyone has the right to express their opinion, however contradictory it may be. To some extent, even people with unconventional sexual orientation belong to a radical minority. Denial of universally recognized values should not be prosecuted, unless this opinion is imposed by force on others.

The situation changes radically when beliefs begin to be imposed by force and weapons. Dissenters in this case are beaten, intimidated and even executed. The most dangerous for society is the spread of radical sentiments related to national election. The theory based on them is very close to fascism. The people who share it usually call for the country to be cleared of its opponents, who are blamed for all the troubles. Something like this is observed today in Ukraine.

What is Maidan and how did it all begin?

For many, the Maidan is a symbol of mass riots and pogroms in 2004. The television picture, which the media showed at that time, differs little from 2014, only the new EuroMaidan brand appeared. In fact, the fashionable Ukrainian word means only a place for a national gathering. Maidan is the Independence Square, located in the heart of Kiev.

A big surprise is the situation that is developing in the European state with the full approval of Western countries. It seems that politicians have forgotten who is such a radical and what can be expected of him, if you give a machine in his hands.

The rallies for integration with Europe were peaceful enough until armed people with closed faces and under the guise of protesters started provocations. Who such radicals on the Maidan, Western politicians did not want to know, but they made it clear that it was impossible to use force against them. That's why the representatives of law enforcement bodies had to experience all the rage of the crowds that had been peppered by provocateurs.

The responses of the Orange Revolution

Some political scientists and ordinary citizens stubbornly do not want to notice the striking similarities between the Orange Revolution and EuroMaidan. But if you think about it, then at least 5 differences are very difficult to find. The slogans under which the protesters went out to protest, in both cases were used by a narrow circle of persons in their own interests. Europe and the US, both in 2004 and in 2014, limited themselves to appeals to stabilize the situation and promises of financial assistance.

We must not forget about what ended the period of the Orange Revolution. The power that came at that time showed its complete failure, and a new head of state was elected in the elections. Before Yanukovych was a very difficult task, and he could not cope with it. At the same time, new revolutionaries sponsored from abroad, following the example of their predecessors, decided not to postpone the matter in the long box. They reconsidered the national question in their favor. And so now it is no longer clear who are the radicals in Ukraine.

The influence of radicals on the actions of Ukrainian protesters

Some experts who share the generally accepted idea of who such a radical are, say that there were few of these people on the Maidan, they were unarmed, so they could not influence the situation. Such a position can not be taken seriously. In scientific works on the psychology of the crowd, it is said that enough provocateur is enough for all the protesters to behave aggressively. In addition, not so few militants with automatic rifles, representing the nationalist movement Right Sector and the power bloc of the Freedom party, participated in the rallies.

Radicals in politics

In every country there are radical politicians. In their opinion, it is necessary to solve problems in a completely different way than it is now. Among the supporters of this concept are, as a rule, members of ultra-right parties, the number of which is steadily growing, especially in Europe. At the same time, they do not in any way call on citizens for an armed coup, on the contrary, they participate in elections on general grounds.

People who came to power in Ukraine today are obliged to their situation to the militants. The proof of this is that many of the radical people received high posts immediately after the armed coup. A vivid example is the Freedom Party, which does not have the necessary support of the people, but is widely represented in the higher echelons.

If the question of who such radicals are in politics is extremely controversial, then neo-fascist parties are officially considered "non-armored" throughout the world. Nevertheless, this does not prevent some candidates, who are on the international wanted list, to run for the post of the President of Ukraine, dictate their will to other politicians and to enjoy the support of the West. Indeed, many of the high-ranking politicians express sympathy for such people. In the European press it is customary to call them patriots and adherents of right-wing views.
