How to cook a cake 'Potatoes' from biscuits?

The cake "Potato" is a dessert that has been familiar to many since childhood. For many young cooks cooking this particular cake was the first experience in confectionery, since this dessert does not require baking.

Today, there are many different ways of making a potato "Potato". Some are used to make shortbread cookies, others are specially baked biscuits. We will consider the simplest recipe, which is called the "Potato" cake made from biscuits.

However, in this case, various versions of the cake preparation are possible. For example, there are recipes using condensed milk and without it.

To make a potato cake "Potatoes" from biscuits without condensed milk, we need 300 grams of vanilla croutons, in which no raisins are added, 150 grams of butter (to replace this product with margarine is strongly discouraged, as this replacement will greatly spoil the taste). In addition, two full spoons of cocoa in powder, half a glass of sugar and cream (you can substitute with milk) and about a glass of ground in a blender or grinded on a grater of nuts will be needed. Nuts can be used any, except peanuts, which will give the cake the taste of half-baked beans. If there are no nuts, you can do without them, increasing the norm of biscuits.

Rusks, as well as nuts, must be crushed into crumbs. To do this, use a blender or a meat grinder. Then we put cream or milk to heat on a plate, pour sugar in them and stir until the latter dissolves. Then add the oil to the hot mixture and again stir until completely dissolved. We leave our syrup cool. In the meantime, mix nuts, cocoa and crackers, pour the cooled mixture into the resulting mixture and mix until homogeneous. If the cake "Kartoshka" made of biscuits is prepared exclusively for adults, then in a mass, you can add a spoonful of cognac.

The resulting mass should be rather thick in consistence, so that balls can be formed from it, which can be rolled in a mixture of powdered sugar with cocoa or in crushed nuts. Ready-made cake "Potatoes" from biscuits should be placed in the cold, so that the oil stiffens and dessert has acquired the necessary density.

Now let's consider the second variant of dessert cooking: the "Potato" cake made from biscuits. The recipe for this treat contains condensed milk.

To prepare such a cake, you also need crackers and nuts, ground into crumbs. Only biscuits take half a kilogram, and nuts - an incomplete glass, about three quarters. In addition, we will need a hundred grams of butter and condensed milk, 6 spoons of cocoa, a glass of milk and 3 tablespoons of cherry syrup (you can use syrup from jam from any berries).

First, prepare the cream, whisk together the condensed milk and butter with the addition of syrup and 2 spoons of cocoa. Then prepare a mixture of crushed crackers and nuts. Add them to a bowl of cream and mix. Now begin to add the warmed milk, bringing the mass to such a consistency that you can form cakes.

The remaining cocoa is poured into a small plate, if desired, in cacao, you can add cinnamon or powdered sugar. From the cooked chocolate mass we form small balls and roll them in cocoa. Spread on a dish and put in the refrigerator for about an hour. Our cake is ready.

Do not like chocolate? Cake type potatoes can be cooked and without the addition of cocoa. For example, you can use a recipe called a crumb cake with whipped cream. To do this, 300 grams of ground breadcrumbs, 100 grams of cream with a fat content of 33%, sugar syrup cooked from 100 grams of sugar and 50 ml of water will be required. In addition, vanilla and crushed nuts can be added to the cake.

Shredded crumbs mixed with nuts, and pour sugar syrup. Whip the cream and add to the sweet breadcrumbs. We knead everything, form small balls and roll them in sugar powder. On top, each cake can be decorated with a "rose" from whipped cream. Dessert is ready, you can serve it for tea.
