Atheroma on the face is not only a cosmetic defect ...

Atheroma (adipose) - this is a common cystic formation in people on the surface of the skin, which occurs, as a rule, as a result of blockage of the sebaceous gland. Education is a benign, painless tumor that has a rounded shape, the dimensions of which vary from 2-3 to 50-70 mm. The content of atheroma is a curdled mass consisting of sebum, squeezed epithelial cells, horny skin scales, cholesterol crystals, microorganisms and the remnants of fallen hair.

Usually there is an atheroma on the face, back, trunk, scalp, in the inguinal areas. Sometimes a small hole appears on its surface, from which an atheromatous mass of curdled nature, with an unpleasant odor, is periodically released. The cause of atherogenesis can be a disturbed metabolism, air pollution in large cities, excessive multiplication of bacteria. Often they appear against the background of increased sweating, hormonal changes, acne or in oily seborrhea. Atheroma on the face of a man can appear as a result of irregular (rare) shaving. According to some experts, the disease may have a genetic predisposition.

Atheroma is easily confused with lipomas: visually they are very similar. In complex cases, it is impossible to establish a type of neoplasm by appearance. In such cases, in order to establish the correct diagnosis, a histological examination (puncture) is performed, according to the results of which only the correct diagnosis is possible.

Atheroma of the skin occurs in people of both sexes and almost all ages. Often there is multiple - atheromatosis. Sometimes atheroma is complicated by infection. On the inflammatory process indicates reddening of the skin above it, an increase in size, swelling, fever, pain when touched, the allocation of white and gray matter. If you have at least one of the listed signs, you should urgently go to the doctor-surgeon, since there is a danger of a possible complication - degeneration into a malignant tumor.

Some believe that it is worth removing only large formations (and they sometimes reach the size of a chicken egg). But this is a wrong opinion - you need to delete any, even if they do not bother the person in any way, because there is a risk of infection, which leads to complications and increases the recovery time. In addition, atheroma on the face is a cosmetic defect that can bring a person to a nervous breakdown.

Atheroma on the face can be removed traditionally, that is, under local anesthesia, as well as using radio wave or laser technology.

Surgical method involves the removal of atheromas of any size (along with the membrane) through a small puncture, which helps to avoid postoperative scars. The operation does not last long: only 7-10 minutes.

The laser can remove small, not started atheromas. Recurrence after such intervention does not happen, the wound heals very quickly and without scar.

The most effective and, at the same time, safe, radio wave method is considered. This method gives a 100% guarantee against the re-emergence of the cyst in the same place. It does not require suturing, there is no scar, the terms of recovery are reduced as much as possible. This does not affect the patient's ability to work. Surgical intervention by radio-wave method is especially important for patients who have an atheroma on their head. Since the method is seamless, there is no need to shave the hair in the area where the operation is performed.

Doctors warn that self-medication (squeezing or burning) atheroma is unacceptable: it must be removed with a capsule, which only the surgeon can do. Otherwise, inflammations and complications are inevitable. In addition, since the cystic formation can sometimes degenerate into a malignant tumor, the material for testing, after removal of the cyst, is necessarily sent for histological examination.
