Dysbacteriosis in infants: causes, symptoms and treatment

Dysbacteriosis is a fairly common problem, both among the adult population and among infants, even in infancy. This is a very unpleasant disease that affects the work of the whole organism. So, what symptoms are accompanied by a dysbacteriosis in the baby? What are the causes of this disease? These questions worry every parent.

Dysbacteriosis in the baby and its causes

To begin with, it should be noted that dysbacteriosis is a disease that is associated with a violation of the intestinal microflora, in particular, with a decrease in the level of beneficial bacteria. To date, there are many reasons why dysbacteriosis in infants can occur.

  • Quite often the disease develops against the backdrop of some other disease of the intestine, including various infections and inflammatory processes.

  • Often dysbacteriosis is associated with malnutrition, especially if the baby is on artificial feeding. For example, in children who are breastfeeding, this disease is diagnosed much less often.

  • It's not a secret for anyone that disturbances of the microflora can be the result of taking some drugs. To this group it is necessary to attribute antibiotics, as they destroy not only pathogenic, but also useful bacteria.

  • Sometimes the disease can be associated with weakness of the body, stresses (for example, heavy births), etc.

Symptoms of dysbiosis in children

Dysbacteriosis is accompanied by a number of very characteristic symptoms. Basically, there are disorders from the digestive tract - it can be nausea, frequent and profuse regurgitation, diarrhea, and discoloration of the stool. In the intestine, the formation of gases increases, which leads to colic. The child constantly hurts his stomach, he often cries. Anxiety, a sharp crying, a bad dream are also signs of a dysbacteriosis in the baby. Such a baby should be shown to the pediatrician as soon as possible.

Dysbacteriosis in infants: treatment

As a rule, in order to make the correct diagnosis, the doctor should examine the child, get acquainted with the results of the stool tests, and sometimes the blood. It is very important to determine the cause of the disease and eliminate it. For example, sometimes you need to change the mother's diet, choose another artificial mixture.

In addition, it is necessary to heal already existing violations. To begin with, the doctor may prescribe the use of special medications that will stop the activity of pathogenic bacteria. Then the intestine needs to be "populated" again, but already by useful microorganisms. For this purpose, drugs containing live strains of some lacto- and bifidobacteria are used.

Prevention of dysbiosis in infants

To begin with, it should be noted that parents should closely monitor the condition of the child, especially in the first months of life. It is necessary to note all the little things - the features of nutrition, the introduction of complementary foods, the behavior of the baby and the quality of his sleep, the frequency and features of the chair. The sooner a problem is found, the easier it will be to stop the development of dysbacteriosis. And the information collected by parents will help the doctor to quickly diagnose and prescribe treatment.

A very important part of prevention is breastfeeding. And during treatment with antibiotics, you need to take special drugs that protect the beneficial microflora and liver.
