What is laziness and how to distinguish it from fatigue?

All cases can not be remade - a long-known maxim. "Work is not a wolf," says the age-old wisdom of the people. And indeed, man is not created for permanent work. It is necessary to work so that there was time for a family, for self-development, for rest. However, life and progress are unthinkable without difficulty. "Who does not work, he does not eat" ... Where is the border that separates workaholism from a reasonable approach? What is laziness and how to fight it? Is our constantly accelerating pace of life normal and how to meet the steadily growing demands of reality?

Those who are at least a little familiar with Russian literature, with the question of what is laziness, remember the unforgettable Ilya Ilich Oblomov. His perpetually rubbed robe, favorite couch and unhurried dreams of a lost paradise. At school, we are taught that such a way of life is disastrous. What is laziness in the understanding of a "properly educated citizen"? This desire to parasitize others, unwillingness to invest, actively act, "build" their lives. But on the other hand, laziness is a state of "idleness", idleness, which can afford those whose basic needs are met. The level of requests for each person is different. After all, if our distant ancestors had no problems with food (for example, there would be enough fruit for everyone), they would live in an eternally warm climate without cataclysms and natural disasters, they would not have to defend themselves against predators, they would not have become Look for additional troubles and worries. Pay attention to the animal world: the activity of our "smaller brothers" is pushed only by hunger, cold, the desire to avoid danger. The overwhelming majority of people have these needs met. If not, a person is looking for ways to achieve satiety and safety. Most often, only two ways are available to him: either work, get money for it, and exchange them for satisfying needs, or live on alms, begging (directly or indirectly) other means of subsistence.

Another question is the level of these needs. The modern world constantly requires from us more and more complex abilities and skills, constantly overestimating the bar of needs. In fact, having a roof over his head, warm clothes and food, a person can stop on what has been achieved. But the desire to improve the comfort of life by all available means pushes us to more active actions for the sake of well-being. What is laziness in this aspect? Unwillingness to take actions aimed at improving our way of life. But remember that the child responds to the demands of adults to learn better, help around the house, change socks and clean up things with him? That to him "and so it is good". And he is absolutely right in his own way. While there is someone or something that provides us with an acceptable level of comfort for us, we have no need to act. It arises when we ourselves take responsibility for our lives or when what we have is not sufficient for us. Hence, the best cure for laziness is an urgent need. To achieve it you will have to try, make efforts, work. Do you want to have a car? Work hard, find a way to make money. Need an apartment or a house? Think about what your skills and abilities can be exchanged for the desired object or means of subsistence.

Summarizing, it can be argued that needs force and motivate us to work. But how to kill yourself lazy, if we know that the roof over his head and the bread and butter we already have? It seems that one of the most reliable motivations is good "good" envy or a desire to bypass rivals. The desire to prove to everyone around you that you are not worse than others.

As it is banal, but what is laziness, knows each of us. Nevertheless, it is worth distinguishing it from chronic fatigue and depression. Sometimes we drive ourselves to such an extent that it seems to us all the time that we do not work well enough, we study, we are engaged. This is facilitated by constant quibbles on the part of relatives. They think that they know exactly what laziness is, and that every minute you spend on yourself is nothing more than a whim. As a result, we really do not want to do anything. Only here it is not from laziness, but from fatigue. The person and at all can lose pleasure and feeling of pleasure. In this case, it is worth immediately contacting the doctor, and not blaming yourself for laziness and "doing nothing". Remember: activities should be fun, but not performed from under the stick and at the last gasp. Loss of a sense of satisfaction from what was done is the first sign of depression and burnout. Do not let work completely subordinate your life to yourself.
