Violet "esmeralda": description, care

One of the favorite flowers grown on the windowsills is the violet. There are countless varieties and a huge variety of shades. Each kind of these amazing flowers is magnificent in its own way.

Violet "esmeralda": photo and description

Senpolia has large velvety leaves. The flower is burgundy-crimson color, terry or semi-double structure. The edges of the petals are slightly darkened, and the corrugated ruches are white-green in color.

During the blossoming of the flower, the fringing is always green, and if it is cool in the room, it keeps it. Otherwise - gradually whitens.

At the first flowering, many peduncles are formed. Subsequently, the violet "esmeralda" (the photo of which is presented in the article) is fully disclosed. Blossoms with a luxurious cap. Flowers last for three months.

The plant is unstable, sockets with the same flowering are rare. In different periods, this happens in different ways. In winter buds open up to half a year, but the flowers die. In spring and summer, inflorescences blossom faster.

Care

Miniature beautiful plant does not require special care, but there are some features. Violet "esmeralda" grows rapidly and actively blooms, if it is in a well-lit place. Optimum light day should be at least 14 hours. For this you can use artificial lighting. On the windowsills should protect the city from direct sunlight.

The temperature regime for the violet should be constant, 20-24 degrees. The temperature at night is 4 degrees below daytime. Do not allow drafts. In summer, at a very high temperature, the plant can die.

The violet "esmeralda" (the photo can be seen above) needs moist air. Spray the plant is not recommended - this leads to disease of the leaves. From dampness on them there are fungal diseases. To moisten the air next to the plant put a container with pebbles, which poured water. Once a month, the leaves of violets are washed under the shower. After this procedure, the remains of water are removed from each leaf by means of a paper napkin.

Watering

Leaves of violets are located at the very ground. When irrigation, the water should not fall on their surface and on the outlet. For watering the pot is immersed in a container of water until the surface layer of the soil is wet. After the liquid drains, the plant is put in place. The procedure is repeated twice a week.

Top dressing

In early spring, during the active growth of the plant, it is fed with nitrogen fertilizer. The next application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers is made with the appearance of buds. The procedure is repeated every two weeks. Fertilizers are purchased in a flower shop and used according to the attached instructions. In winter, the violet "esmeralda" is in a state of rest and does not require additional feeding.

The soil in the pot is eventually depleted, so every three years the violet is transplanted. The earth should be loose and consist of leaf, coniferous and peaty soil.

Violet "esmeralda" reproduces by a subsidiary rosette or leaf cuttings, very rarely it is grown from seeds.

  1. Powdery mildew. It appears by the appearance on the sheets of a touch of white color. The cause of the disease: low temperature and high humidity in the room. For the treatment of using special drugs ("Topaz", "Saprol") or powdered violet powder of sulfur.
  2. Late blight. It damages the stems of the plant, which acquire a greyish-brown hue. You need to get the polypy from the pot and carefully examine the root system. Sick, brownish roots should be removed. Violet put in another pot and change the ground.
  3. Fusarium. It develops in violation of growing conditions: watering with cold water, a large pot, sudden temperature fluctuations. The disease is manifested by decay of roots, leaves and petioles. The affected parts of the plant are removed. To prevent disease, the violet "esmeralda" is treated with an antifungal agent.
  4. Gray rot. It appears as a fluffy greyish-brown coating. The disease is treacherous, capable of leading to the death of a flower in a short time. Prevention is the right care.
