Clover creeping - useful culture

Many of us have known the clover grass since childhood. After all, it grows everywhere - in forests, in fields, in villages and cities. This grass refers to a large family of legumes. The height usually grows to half a meter. Predominantly its leaves are triple (but is more common), and the flowers are collected in small tight heads. There is a statistic that a multilayer plant meets on average one per 10000 stems of clover. And it happens, as scientists say, because of a genetic mutation.

Clover, thanks to special living bacteria in its roots, enriches the soil with nitrogen. In addition, it improves the drainage of the soil and its moisture capacity. All this is because the roots of the clover penetrate deep into the soil, and at the same time it is additionally loosened. The benefit of clover is also that it is one of the most important crops for feeding livestock.

There are about 250 species of clover. One of the most common is the white clover (creeping). In the people it is also called "white kashka". This plant is found in the Caucasus, on the territory of the CIS and throughout Europe. The stems of the white clover lay on the ground, hence its second name - the creeping clover. He is unusually tenacious - he can withstand bleeding and trampling, growing extremely fast.

Another species is a red clover, or as it is also called, meadow. Characteristic features: long leaves, branched root and flowers are dark red. Fruits are small seeds that look like beans. The core root system grows very quickly. Above-ground shoots slightly curved or erect, reach up to 40 cm in height. Leaflets triple ovate, lower pubescent.

The clover contains fat and essential oils. Due to this, it is often used in folk medicine for the treatment of suffocation, hernia, female diseases. Also used for scrofula, kidney disease, malaria and colds. The plant also has a diuretic, hemostatic, astringent, expectorant and antiseptic effect. Medicinal raw materials - inflorescences with upper leaves. Collect them during flowering, laying in baskets in a loose way. Then they are dried in the shade, in a dryer or under a canopy. Keep it for a year in a closed container.

Most of the varieties of this plant are excellent herbs. Including clover creeping. Honey from it (and also from red clover) is considered curative and very valuable. There are even special bees that collect nectar exclusively from these leguminous plants.

The people have their sayings and signs about this plant. It is believed that if a person finds a four-leaf clover (not important - creeping or red), then he will be happy, and luck will always accompany his life path. And if someone met on his way a five-leaved clover (which is very rare), and even ripped it, then it is waiting for grief and misfortune. Such statements came to us from ancient times. Then four-leafed clover creeping (or red) specifically looked for young unmarried girls, in order to attract a good groom. Also, this grass with four leaves was hidden under the porch to avoid unwanted guests.
