History of the University

The history of the Serpukhov Military Institute of Missile Forces began in November 1940, when it was singled out as a separate school from the MKVATU, which trained communication officers. The institution was located in the Moscow region of Tushino, but during the war it was forced to move to Serpukhov.

Only in the years of the Second World War more than 7,000 specialists in the aviation field came out of the school's walls. In 1948 the institution was transformed into a military aviation technical school, and after twelve years it became part of the Strategic Missile Forces (Strategic Missile Forces).
