Action "Prince of Persia": actors, roles, short story

In 2010, fans of computer games had a real holiday: on big screens came blockbusters "BloodRayne 3: Third Reich" and "Prince of Persia". The actors participating in these projects became part of the computer universe, which was transferred by the directors and screenwriters to the frame. "Prince of Persia" also collected at the box office a good cash. Who played the main roles in this film? And around what events does his story revolve around?

The creators of the picture

With an unprecedented scope, the Prince of Persia starred: actors in stylish and slightly fairy-tale suits, scenery for millions of dollars, and the producer of this whole action was Jerry Bruckheimer, who once supervised the projects "Pearl Harbor" and "Pirates of the Caribbean".

The total budget of the picture was $ 200 million. Rights to the screen version of the computer game of the same name was bought by Walt Disney Pictures. As the director, the British Mike Newell was hired, which, in fact, explains why there are so many Englishmen in the cast of the project.

Newell began his career back in the 60's. XX century, shooting television series. In 2005, the director broke into the world of Hollywood cinema, taking up the adaptation of the book "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire." The last work of the director in the movie dates back to 2012, when he released the historical drama "Big hopes" on the screens.

Short story

Actors of the film "Prince of Persia" played on the screens a funny story about courage and cowardice, loyalty and betrayal, love and hatred. As a real adventure film, Prince of Persia has absorbed many storylines, generously flavored with special effects.

And the story begins with a description of the exploits of the three princes - the sons of the Persian king. Young people took the wrong city of Alamut with great pressure, having got the life of local residents and princess Tamina. However, after the assault, it turned out that the town had been incinerated: local settlers had never supplied weapons to the enemies of the Persian king.

During the feast in the castle of Alamut, the Persian ruler Sharaman suddenly perishes. By an absurd accident, the suspicion of killing the king falls on his younger adoptive son Dastan. Dastan has to escape from the castle with Tamina, to be able to prove his innocence.

Tamina and Dastan have roughly the same goals - to bring the scoundrel to the clean water, who set them both up. However, Prince of Persia and Princess Alamut can not get along with each other. In the finals, they still manage to achieve their goal, plus romantic feelings arise between them.

"Prince of Persia": actors and roles. Jake Gyllenhaal as Dastan

The central character of the film is the young and fearless Prince Dastan, a man of an ignorant family, who in his childhood was an ordinary homeless child. However, the Persian king Sharaman fell in love with the boy for his dexterity and courage and accepted into his family another child.

For years, it never occurred to anyone to mention that Dastan is not a descendant of a noble family: the young prince lived in the palace and went on military campaigns with the two blood sons of the king as an equal. However, Sharaman was killed as a result of the machinations of enemies, as Dastan was taken into custody, accused of the death of the king and many other crimes. Dastan escapes from prison and now he faces a challenge to prove that he is innocent, that he is a true and faithful prince of Persia.

The main actor of the project is, of course, Jake Gyllenhaal. For the filming in the picture, he changed beyond recognition: he grew his long hair, pumped his muscles and mastered the art of battle on eastern sabers. The actor is widely known: he can be seen in the films "Donnie Darko", "Captive", "Everest" and "Zodiac".

"Prince of Persia": actors, photo. Gemma Arterton as Princess Tamina

Gemma Arterton - the figure in the cinema is ambiguous: then she is removed in large-budget projects like "Quantum of Solace", then appears in the disastrous and incoherent paintings like "Byzantium".

It's quite another thing - "Prince of Persia": the actors Gemma Arterton and Jake Gyllenhaal have played characters whose relationship begins with hatred, but then grow into love. Moreover, the image of Princess Tamina is one of the brightest in Gemma's career: when watching, it seemed that the actress was simply created for this role.

Her heroine, according to the plot, is the guardian and leader of the city of Alamut. However, after the wiles arranged by Uncle Dastan Nizam, Alamut captured the Persians and made a pogrom there. It so happened that Princess Tamina was forced to join forces with Dastan in the fight against Nizam, who was building far-reaching plans to seize Persia. In the final, a couple of colorful heroes can defeat the villain.

Ben Kingsley as Nizam

Ben Kingsley, who played in the thriller "Prince of Persia" main antagonist, is not used to the image of the villain: in 2005, the English actor appeared in the film "BloodRayne" in approximately the same role (the film, incidentally, was also based on a computer game).

In the project "Prince of Persia" actors Ben Kingsley and Ronald Pickup played siblings - Nizam and Sharaman. However, Sharaman, by right of seniority, ascended the royal throne, and Nizam was entrusted with the role of adviser and an approximate person. The hero Kingsley took advantage of this and killed his brother, quarreled the princes of Dastan, Tas and Garciv, planning to further seize the throne. However, the villain in the finals exposed Tamina and Dastan.

Other performers of roles

In addition to the actors, Richard Coyle ("The Skull and the Bones" series), Toby Kebbell (the Rock-N-Roller fighter), Alfred Molina (The Sorcerer's Apprentice), Steve Tussen (The Chronicles of the Mutants) And Rhys Richie ("Hercules").
