He was identified in the studio of the famous film director Nikolai Figurovsky. In the late 80s of the last century, Selyanov graduated from the Higher Courses of Scriptwriters, being already a graduate of Bykov's studio.

The first film

Trial for a budding director was the work on the film "The Day of the Angel", which he put in a duet with Nikolai Makarov in 1989.

This was a comedy drama, which was positioned by Selyanov as an independent film, since he spent his own savings on the shooting. In addition, the plot of the picture was dissonant with respect to the general policy of the Council Country, so the cinema received the status of "underground". In general, Sergei Selyanov, whose films differ in metaphorical, allegorical content with elements of the grotesque, emphasizes that a creative person should be able not only to come up and create a movie, but also properly organize the shooting process.

Director and founder of "STV"

The second film of the "Karelian" director was released on Soviet screens in 1990. It was called "The Spirits of the Day," and the main role was given to the famous singer and songwriter Yuri Shevchuk, for whom she became a kind of new vector in her career. This creation of the maestro was already legal: the film was shot on Lenfilm.

In 1992, Sergei Mikhailovich created in the "northern Palmyra" film company "STV", "politics" which was based on the promotion and "promotion" of exclusively Russian films. "In Russia, few quality films are produced"

Most recently, the maestro celebrated his sixtieth birthday. Sergey Mikhailovich believes that today the domestic cinema is far from showing "good" stories to the viewer. On average, according to the maestro, for a year only 2-3 "good" films are released, the rest can be attributed to marriage. The system of film formation, which dominated the Soviet era, emphasized the education of the artist, while the professionalism of the directors was secondary. Now, according to Selyanov, this basic value is a thing of the past, and we need to gradually follow the path of reform of the education system, so that the script art is given much more time. According to Sergei Mikhailovich, the future of Russian cinema is talented screenwriters.
