Nutrition during breastfeeding - the truth and myths

Many women believe that, once you are breastfeeding, then without fail you must follow a strict diet. There is even the concept of "diet of a nursing mother." And while in the countries of Europe doctors call not to limit themselves, women of the post-Soviet space continue to make lists of harmful products.

Of course, it is worthwhile to understand, nutrition during breastfeeding should be correct. Not for mom, but in general - for any person. Everyone knows that you should not drink alcohol in large quantities, smoke, eat many chips and drink a lot of Coca-Cola - but this is not recommended at the usual time, because it is harmful. Harmful to my mother, it's bad for my baby - it's harmful!

As for all other products, here it is necessary to treat them with the mind. There is a list of products that are usually ranked among those that are not present in the diet of a young mother.

It looks like this -

Canned food

Marinades and Pickles

Roast

Salted

Smoked

Semifinished products

White cabbage

Beans, peas and other legumes

Mayonnaise, sauces, ketchups

Processed curds

Grapes, citrus fruits

Carbonated drinks, coffee, tea ...

This list can be written and written. Only a young mother should not go to anything and lick, because you can not do anything! And this is against the background of fatigue and lack of sleep - the eternal companions of the first months of life with a small child.

In Europe, doctors say that nutrition during breastfeeding differs little from your usual diet - you can eat everything (except for obvious harmfulness), you need to understand when and how much. For example, you can eat cabbage, but immediately after feeding and slightly. Or drink coffee. Then, by the next feeding, you do not give the baby something that can affect him. Usually, in most cases, we just want to feel the taste of this or that food, and not eat it to the dump.

In part, these diets of nursing mothers have explanations - women are afraid that the baby will have a stomach ache, colic will begin. In fairness, I note that 95% of children have colic, regardless of whether you are breastfeeding it or a mixture, whether you eat well or eat canned foods with cabbage. Nutrition during breastfeeding in most cases has nothing to do with it. A young mother can only get upset and think that she ate something "not that."

However, some products on the list are there deservedly - for example, grapes increase gas generation and, with great probability, you can say that at night you will not be able to sleep peacefully if you get along with grapes. From beans, as you know, there can also be gases. Although some people do not have a reaction to it. Whether there is a product or not for your child, you can learn only by trial and error - try a little - if there is no reaction - you can. Another thing is that there are a lot of products, while they are all slowly entering - the colic has already passed.

It is very important to know in advance from relatives if there are any allergies in the family. In the presence of such, it is necessary to be extremely cautious, not to eat strong allergens like citrus, strawberry or chocolate. Nutrition during breastfeeding is an important issue that should be given great attention.

Do not forget that with the mother's milk the child receives vitamins and nutrients, so mom also needs to take it from somewhere. Limit yourself, sit on a rigid diet, consisting of a piece of boiled beef and buckwheat - not worth it. Meals should be balanced in this period. Do not eat for two, and there is for two - the golden rule of a nursing mother.

Diet during breastfeeding - whatever it is, can have a detrimental effect on the amount of milk. Therefore, the doctors of most developed countries say that about 8-9 of the first months of a child's life, mother should eat well and diversely (!), And not sit on diets. Try to combine breastfeeding, nutrition and good mood!
