What are the food colors?

How to get a natural color of red color

Such a dye can be obtained using juice of berries, fruits and vegetables that contain red color, it can be:

But red food color can be obtained not only from fruits, try to use for this purpose tomatoes of dark red color, red pepper and paprika powder. But nevertheless the most beautiful color is obtained from beets.

  • The second way, as at home, is to make food coloring black. Black color can be obtained by mixing artificial colors of several colors. For example, take food colorings of red, yellow and blue and mix thoroughly - eventually get a black color.
  • The third way, as at home, is to make food coloring black. Take ink cuttlefish. To get them recently is quite easy, they are sold in almost every big hypermarket. But despite the fact that the ink has almost no taste, there is still a certain taste, and therefore it is not recommended to use such black food color for mastic or other sweet dishes.

Color beige

To make the food color by yourself beige, you should use tomato paste. Color saturation depends on the amount of this product, for example, if you add a lot of tomato to the cream, it will get more orange color than beige. Tomato paste does not change the taste of dessert.

If you have previously prepared several different natural dyes, then if you want, you can create new ones from them. To do this, you will only need to mix already existing ones. For example, to get the color of the sea wave, you should mix the two dyes: green and blue, and for the blue hue you need to add a green to the red. When mixing red, blue and green turns black. A beautiful pistachio shade can be achieved by mixing the blue and yellow dyes.

Yellow

To paint the dish in yellow, most cooks use lemon. The lemon zest is rubbed on a fine grater, and then the juice is squeezed out of it, which turns into a liquid food color. Dissolved in warm water, turmeric also gives a beautiful yellow tint.

Green color

To get a saturated green color, most often use fresh spinach. It is crushed in a meat grinder or wiped through a sieve. Then the mixture is cooked for 30 minutes, after which it is filtered.

Blue and violet colors

Such colors can be obtained from blueberries, dark grapes or aubergine skin. You can also use for this purpose violet cabbage, which is pre-cut and cooked. With the help of sugar, you can get a brown color. For this, the sugar is mixed with water (5: 1) and placed on a frying pan. Make a small fire and fry the sugar, not forgetting it is constantly stirring. Gradually the mixture begins to acquire a brown tint. Add some more water and strain it. In addition to sugar, a brown color can be obtained using cocoa, coffee or chocolate.

What is harmful artificial dyes

To date, a large number of artificial colors are produced, which are used to give the dishes an attractive appearance. But it is not always known what exactly is included in these synthetic dyes. It often happens that their composition can only be determined through long-term laboratory studies.

Not in all cases, manufacturers are ready to comply with standards, and often dangerous components in dyes exceed the allowable content. They can not only cause people to be allergic, but also negatively affect the nervous system, cause oxygen starvation and, worst of all, provoke the formation of tumors. Therefore, it is better not to use such products at all, but instead learn how to make food coloring at home.
