Cyst of the yellow body of the right ovary: causes, symptoms and methods of treatment

The cyst of the yellow body of the right ovary is a rather common pathology that affects girls and women of childbearing age. And most often such a disease does not pose a threat to the health or life of the patient. Nevertheless, the pathological, rapid growth of such a neoplasm requires appropriate treatment.

Yellow Ovarian Cyst: Causes

The yellow body is formed in place of the released egg from the follicle - it temporarily produces some hormones that prepare the uterus for implantation of the embryo. Most often this formation disappears within a few weeks. But sometimes in its place a benign cyst is formed, the sizes of which rarely exceed 2-6 centimeters in diameter.

Unfortunately, the reasons for its formation have not been studied enough. But there are facts confirming that women with hormonal disorders are much more at risk. Such a result can lead to frequent abortions, taking certain hormonal drugs (for example, those drugs that are taken to treat infertility, preparations for in vitro fertilization). Risk factors include frequent inflammatory diseases of the ovaries, as well as improper diet, emotional and physical stress.

Cyst of the yellow body of the right ovary: the main symptoms

In fact, the presence of such a neoplasm is rarely accompanied by some external signs. And most often the cyst resolves itself.

On the other hand, the rapid growth of compaction may negatively affect the reproductive system, as well as the patient's well-being. For example, the cyst of the yellow body of the right ovary often causes discomfort, a feeling of bursting and even pain in the right lower abdomen or lower back.

In some cases, the growth of the neoplasm affects the nature and duration of menstruation - in some women they are prolonged and too abundant, while others have regular delays.

Quite a different clinical picture is observed when the cyst is ruptured, which is accompanied by sharp pains, fever, vomiting, disruption of the intestine.

Cyst of the yellow body of the right ovary: diagnosis

The first suspicions of the presence of such neoplasms appear with a standard gynecological examination. In the future, patients are also referred for ultrasound and laparoscopy. These studies help to determine the presence of a dense education, as well as to know its dimensions. If cancer is suspected, additional tests for cancer markers are performed, as this is the only way to make sure that the tumor is of good quality.

How to treat a cyst of a yellow body?

If the detected cyst does not show any symptoms, doctors can recommend a woman only regular observation - there is always a chance that the tumor will disappear by itself.

In those cases, if the cyst continues to grow, the administration of anti-inflammatory and hormonal drugs is prescribed, under the influence of which the compaction gradually decreases in size and resolves. Sometimes laparoscopic curettage is necessary. Resection of the ovary is indicated only in extreme cases, for example, with rupture of the neoplasm, since this condition is considered urgent and requires emergency measures.
