Carpet - pluses and minuses, features of choice and packing of material

When moving to a new home, there is often a question about choosing the right floor covering. For many owners, the process of its selection becomes extremely long and painful. Significantly accelerate the process will help familiarize with such a popular coating, as a floor carpet.

What is the material?

This variety of carpet is statically attached to the floor. Similar to conventional carpets, the material perfectly preserves heat and promotes the absorption of noise. The base of the carpet is extremely durable. Therefore, these products have been used for decades.

At present, the material is available to the consumer in rolls of a wide variety of widths, which makes it possible to select optimal parameters without the need for cutting the web. As for the texture, most of the products have a small pattern. Due to this, not only the cleaning of the carpet is facilitated, but also the joining of individual strips of material during laying.

Production

When manufacturing carpet, both natural and synthetic components are used. The basis of individual types of material can contain from 10 to 30% of wool.

Not too inferior to natural synthetic products. So, nylon fibers are characterized by a strong fit, due to what threads are practically not removed with time. This ensures a long service life. To the touch, the synthetic threads that are used in the production of high-quality carpet samples are practically indistinguishable from natural ones.

Features of choice

Like any other material, it has carpeting pluses and minuses. Therefore, before deciding on its packing, it is worth paying attention to some points:

  • Type of premises (office, residential, public);
  • Operating conditions;
  • Level of patency;
  • Climatic characteristics.

The most practical option for a dwelling is to become a material that has a high percentage of natural wool. And for bedrooms it is better to use products with long nap, which look more aesthetic, provide additional comfort and coziness. Dense coatings are suitable for corridors. In the latter case, cleaning the carpet will be more simple.

In addition to the structure, a special role in the selection is played by shade and decoration. It is important that the material organically fit into the interior design. For well-lit rooms, the best solution is a carpet of dark colors. As for the floor coverings of light colors, they are able to compensate for the lack of lighting and decorate the rooms with small windows.

Carpet Laying

Ideally, as a floor covering, it is recommended to select whole pieces of material that do not have to be divided into parts and look for ways to join the segments. In the latter case, it is necessary to take into account the direction of the pile, and also try not to have joints in the middle of the rooms, where a steady flow of a substantial number of people occurs. In order not to regularly correct the coating, it is desirable to press down its connections with furniture or to lay the edges under the baseboard.

Lay on an open concrete base is better synthetic carpet. The pros and cons of this decision are obvious. A dense layer of material becomes an effective barrier to the path of concrete dust. Especially practical products on a synthetic or rubber basis are in operation in rooms with high traffic. The only drawback here is the limited nature of textural solutions. However, this should not become a critical moment for public facilities.

One of the most common solutions - laying carpet on a double-sided scotch. Initially, the adhesive base is positioned around the perimeter of the room, and then forms a kind of framework in the form of a grid. Such an option becomes convenient not only for fixing the whole material, but also when it is necessary to fix a significant number of small pieces.

With a mechanical method of laying the edges of the canvas are connected with metal hooks, mounted in the walls under the baseboard. This method is extremely reliable and excludes material shifts.

Carpet: pros and cons

Like any other floor covering, the material has its advantages and disadvantages. The obvious pluses of carpet can be attributed the following:

  1. Presence of a soft and pleasant to the touch structure.
  2. Variety of textures, drawings, color solutions.
  3. Stacking the material contributes to the absorption of noise.
  4. Cover does not need special care. Enough regular cleaning with a conventional vacuum cleaner.

As already noted, has carpet pluses and minuses. The latter, unfortunately, the material is sufficient. Thus, a static charge forms on the surface of the coating, which attracts dust and impurities.

Laying the carpet is not recommended in places with high humidity, for example, in the bathroom, near the pool. Contact of the material with water leads to the formation of dark, contrasting areas.

Carpet flooring is difficult to get rid of stains. Most often, careless handling of the coating leads to the need for expensive dry cleaning or complete replacement.

Eventually

Despite a host of flaws, the carpet remains one of the most effective solutions for living rooms and bedrooms. The material is perfectly suitable for laying in terms of practical and relatively inexpensive coating. This solution contributes to savings, allows you to enjoy warmth and comfort.
