Why does not the printer print?

The printer for numerous employees of various offices, as well as for the army of home users has long become an unchangeable companion of the computer. The number of documents printed with this irreplaceable assistant is huge, and the resource of any device, unfortunately, is limited. So it's no wonder that sooner or later they are in trouble, and the company's system administrator comes up with the question "why the printer does not print ." Not always that the printer refused, employees are guilty. Often the cause is the mechanical wear of parts, or breakage of one of the numerous gears.

We think that you should not dig into such simple problems as "the printer does not print in black" or "paper jammed in the printer". With such trifles will cope with any savvy user, replacing the cartridge with black ink in the first case or pulling the jammed sheet in the second.

We will talk about "global" problems, which are not solved by elementary actions.

The main reasons why the printer does not print:

· Problems with the cable.

· Problems with the print queue.

· Driver error.

· The iron portion of the printer has failed.

· Other hardware and software problems.

And now let's try to determine by steps why the printer does not print for the Windows XP operating system, although most recommendations will work for Windows 7 as well.

First step. We go to the "Control panel> Printers and Faxes" here we find the printer with which we have problems and carefully study its condition. If it is off, the icon should be labeled "not connected", if the printer is working and everything is in order, the icon should be "ready".

The second step. If the printer is "ready," and you suspect that the problem, most likely with the print queue, means you need to open the device interface and delete all current jobs there. Right click on the printer icon and select "print queue view", then go to "Printer> Clear print queue" in the window that opens. After completing this operation, wait a few seconds, turn off the block for a minute, and then turn it back on.

The third step. If nothing of the above does not help, then you need to make sure the USB cable is working. Try to pull it out of the connectors on both sides and reconnect. It often happens that his feet hurt, he does not contact, and the user is indignant, "why does not the printer print, although everything was good 5 minutes ago"? Sometimes it is necessary to replace the cable with a better shielded sample.

Step four. If replacing the cable did not work, try removing the printer from the system and rebooting. The drivers will be installed back automatically, if this does not happen and you have an unidentified device connected to the USB, you will have to look for the driver disk or download it from the network.

Fifth step. In very rare cases, printing may not be possible due to virus interference. Check your computer if you find a lot of infected files in the system directory with: \ Windows it's best to reinstall the OS.

Step Six. If the network printer does not print, check the installed software version, you may need to update it. Also, check the connection settings again. It is possible that the device is not properly connected.

Step Seven. If even after reinstalling the operating system, you still do not have printing, then there may be a problem with the hardware of the computer or with the USB output of the printer. Repair such breakages yourself is not recommended.

If even the first steps from this list cause difficulties for you, it will be easier for you to immediately call specialists or deliver the printer to one of the companies that repair office equipment.
