Dental implants - reasons for embarrassment

Thanks to the achievements of modern medicine in the field of implantology, the rejection of dental implants in percentage terms tends to zero. The thing is that for this purpose the best material is used, which is only invented by nature - titanium, which completely takes root and does not cause allergic reactions. Special techniques, including the use of modern equipment, allow to achieve better results and provide the process of osseointegration as quickly as possible.

However, in some cases, dental implants can be rejected by the body. That's why a specialist first gets to know the patient's card and conducts an examination. In some cases, the setting of permanent implants is simply not possible, and if there are contraindications, it is better not to take risks. In any case, the possibility of setting implants is discussed individually with the attending physician.

The most common reasons for implant rejection

  1. Diseases of the immune system. As a rule, if there is a disease of a similar nature, then it is practically impossible to install dental implants. Difficulties can arise already at the stage of the operation, and even if it was carried out successfully, the risk of implant rejection increases almost to 100%. It is also not recommended to place implants in insulin-dependent patients with diabetes mellitus, patients with hypertension or cancer.
  2. Non-compliance with the recommendations of a specialist. After the placement of the implant, care must be taken carefully for the oral cavity, to perform hygienic procedures in accordance with the established schedule and not to overload the dental system in excess of the norm. By the way, patients with bruxism (gnashing their teeth during night's sleep) are advised to use special kaps when implants are implanted, which minimize the burden on the jaw. Also, the loss of the implant may result in the refusal to visit the specialist, which is prophylactic in nature, and the abuse of smoking, however, as well as any other bad habits.
  3. The presence of allergies to metals. In fact, this type of allergy is very rare - there are very few known cases of titanium implant rejection because of incompatibility with the body, but they are also present. Therefore, it is very important to talk with an expert at an initial consultation and talk about any manifestations of an allergy. The same patients who are allergic to titanium may have an implant made of zirconium oxide.
  4. Diseases of the gums. Some of them lead to the fact that the gums degenerate. Lack of volume of bone tissue can lead to loss of the implant. However, today the procedure of bone augmentation - sinus-lifting is practiced.

Implantation of teeth with an incorrect occlusion

An incorrect bite can become an obstacle to implant placement. The thing is that with an incorrect bite, the load on a freshly installed implant may be too high and it will not take root. Depending on the problem, the specialist determines whether it is possible to perform a procedure for implantation of the teeth, or for starters, visit the orthodontist and perform a number of measures aimed at correcting the occlusion.

There are two types of bite abnormalities:

  • Wrong position of teeth;
  • The displacement of the jaws.

In the first case, implant placement is possible if the roots of the teeth or their tips do not interfere with the placement of the implant and the crown. In most cases, the problem lies in aesthetics, and if you want the dentition to be perfect, before the implantation of teeth, you need to turn to the orthodontist and straighten the bite. Unfortunately, with the installed implants correction of the bite is almost impossible.

Straightening of the bite is necessary in the event that healthy teeth interfere with the placement of the implant. Here, without an orthodontist simply can not do. Well, or do not correct the bite, and remove adjacent teeth, which is not always correct. Most often, the placement of implants is hampered by wisdom teeth, since most often they have an incorrect position of the bone.

The second problem is the displacement of the jaws. A small bias is not a contraindication to implantation, moreover, it even shows: stenting helps to correct the bite. However, serious malocclusion can be a big problem, and in some cases, the specialist will not be able to help with implant placement.

We advise you to visit the orthodontist before the implant placement, which would reveal the possible problems with the displacement of the dentoalveolar system and help you get rid of them. This guarantees you not only a beautiful smile, but also minimization of problems during the installation and implantation of implants.
