Where to use a pickled onion

Quite often in the recipes of many dishes there is a pickled onion, it is also always used when preparing shish kebabs. But, unfortunately, not every landlady has an idea of how to properly pickle it, that it has good taste qualities and gives the dish some charm.

To date, there is no definite recipe for marinating this culture, every culinary artist brings in something of his own. It should only be noted that the onions are of several varieties: sharp, medium sharp and sweet. Depending on the chosen variety, a certain method of its pickling is used. In this case, in any case, you need to eliminate the bitterness (except for onions of sweet varieties). To this end, it is distributed with boiling water or boiled in a marinade.

To obtain a pickled onion, you can use the following types: onions, leeks, nets or shallots.

If marinated onions, it is recommended to use it entirely. It is necessary to know that the smaller the head, the more delicious it will turn out. You need to take two kilos of seedling, two hundred grams of apple cider vinegar and honey, a liter of water and fifty grams of salt. The sowing should be cleaned, washed, put in cans and pour boiling marinade. In this case, the pouring is carried out three times, after which the cans are rolled up.

If it is necessary to get onions marinated to a shish kebab, it is better to use the onion. To do this, it is cleaned, washed and placed in jars, then poured with marinade and pasteurized for 7-10 minutes, depending on their size, then rolled up.

It is also possible to use red currant juice for a shish kebab as a marinade. In this case, three hundred grams of juice are taken, two kilograms of onions, a liter of water, one hundred grams of sugar and fifty grams of salt. The prepared onions are shredded, stacked in jars and poured marinade three times with breaks in five minutes, after which the cans roll.

Marinated leeks are prepared as follows. It is necessary to separate the feathers, wash it, lower it for one minute in salted boiling water, densely put in jars and pour marinade, for which you need 100 grams of apple cider vinegar and sugar, fifty grams of salt. Banks rolled up.

If using shallots, it is cleaned, lowered for several minutes into boiling water, and then cooled. When all the water drains, the bulbs are put in cans and poured with a hot marinade, adding peas of black and fragrant pepper. For a marinade, take three glasses of water, half a glass of vinegar, twenty grams of salt and sugar.

Thus, it became known how to pickle onions for salad. As you can see, this is not much work, you just need to decide on the type of onions that will be used in the dish.

So, pickled onions can be used instead of the usual, used for cooking a variety of salads and meat dishes, including shish kebab. Once again, we recall the classic recipe for marinating onions of any of the varieties.

To do this, you need a glass of water, sixty grams of vinegar, three tablespoons of sugar and half a spoonful of salt.

The onions are cleaned, cut into rings and placed in a jar. Water, sugar, salt are mixed, brought to a boil, after which vinegar is added. Next, fill in the prepared onions. After several hours, the product can be consumed, but stored in a cool place. Here it should be noted that before the onion is put in a salad, it is squeezed and cut.

In addition, this marinade is also suitable for other vegetables, such as cabbage, pepper, cucumber and others.

Thus, using pickled onions when preparing various dishes, you can not only give them good taste qualities, but also many useful properties, since onions are a carrier of a large number of useful substances that contribute to the enhancement of human health.
