What to do and what to check when the computer turns itself off?

Today computers are used daily and everywhere. Many of them work without any disruptions, and many have the opposite. And the most unpleasant is the fact that unexpectedly during operation the PC turns off, and all the data processed by it at the moment, in most cases, are lost.

The computer itself turns off due to the software part

Sometimes this is considered normal if the PC is shut down without user intervention. First of all, you need to pay attention to what time the computer turns itself off . If this happens, for example, at night, when you do not use it, then it is possible that a program is installed that turns it off. If this happens after a while (5, 10, 15 minutes, etc.) after you stop using the computer, then this is most likely done by your operating system in order to save power.

All of the above can not be called problems - it's rather incorrect settings. But if this does not apply to your PC, then you need to check the system for infection with its virus. Also, the operating system may be the fault. If you deleted or changed any system files, settings, etc., then the easiest way to fix the situation is to reinstall the OS. It's worth noting that programs rarely cause the computer to shut itself off. Most often this is due to the fault of the equipment.

The computer itself shuts down due to hardware failures

As you know, if the PC completely turns off, it means the loss of electricity in it. Therefore, what you should pay attention to first of all is the power supply unit. First, you need to check its power (usually indicated on the label). If, for example, it is 300 W, and the sum of the powers of all devices that are currently connected to the PC is equal to or greater than this value, then the computer itself turns off precisely for this reason. It is not recommended that this indicator reach a high level. The computer will shut down because the power supplies have an overload protection. In this case, you can try to disable some devices (up to USB) and see if there will be a power outage.

There is one more unpleasant reason for restarting the computer or completely shutting down - the overheating of some PC element. The power supply itself, the processor, and the south or north bridge, etc., can overheat. To determine this, you can use one of the special utilities, like, for example, Everest Ultimate. The program will immediately show the temperature of this or that device at startup (however, the power unit will have to be checked manually). For most elements, a temperature of 100 degrees is already critical, and when they heat up to this mark, the self-protection system is triggered and the computer itself turns off.

Heating does not happen immediately. Its speed depends on the room temperature, as well as on the efficiency of the cooling devices. Here they just need to be checked. Here, immediately you need to pay attention to the speed of their rotation - perhaps you have to lubricate the coolers with oil or replace it altogether.

But often cases where all of the above problems are not present in the PC: the operating system is normal and not infected with viruses, coolers rotate properly and the elements do not overheat, but still the computer itself turns off. In this situation, they can help in the workshops: maybe some particular element is working incorrectly, suddenly stopping its functioning, because of what the whole device ceases to work.
