What is dried flowers?

Dryflowers are dried plants that have retained their aesthetic appearance. They are used for decorative purposes: for drawing up bouquets, compositions, ikebana, panels, paintings and other art crafts.

A dried flower is not necessarily a flower. They can become any plant. "Wow!" - beginners will think florists. But not everything is so simple. Some dried plants quickly crumble, break down and lose their shape. In this, dried flowers for floristics are complicated. Therefore, they require exceptionally careful and careful treatment.

What plants can make dried flowers for beginners?

As it turned out, not all flowers are easy to handle after drying. Let's give a list of plants that even beginners florists will cope with.

Some plants change their color after drying. If you do not need surprises, then take note of the observations of our ancestors. Best of all, the color is preserved by blue, orange, pink and lilac plants. Light flowers can turn yellow, and red ones can become darker, a brownish shade.

Drying plants in the air

The easiest way is to dry naturally in the air. Just take the plants to the street in the shade and wait a few days. The main thing is that the rain does not wet them.

Large flowers for a composition of dried flowers are usually placed on a newspaper in one layer. This, for example, roses and peonies. And small plants are dried in several layers or divided into small bundles, tied and suspended with heads down. For example, this method is suitable for chrysanthemums and spikelets. By the way, such bundles of fragrant plants during drying are interesting in the interior.

Accelerated drying in microwave oven

This method is not suitable for fragile plants. But with strong buds you can save time and quickly start making a bouquet. Put the plants in the microwave and check every five seconds. When they become dry enough, you can take them out and use them in your work.

How to dry flowers with silica gel?

In a sealed container we fill the gel, lay the flowers, carefully cover with a layer of gel and close the lid. Plants should be checked daily, as the gel can easily overdry and break the structure. Usually drying in this way takes a couple of days.

How to store dried flowers

Finished plants are tinted if necessary and covered with varnish or a special floral fixer. This will help them to keep their shape longer. As soon as the varnish dries, the dried flowers are neatly removed into a cardboard box. Keep it in a damp room is not worth it.

What you need to compose a bouquet of dried flowers

The flowers are dried, now you can proceed directly to the very composition of dried flowers. For the interior choose plants that match the color scheme to the room.

So, prepare:

  • Dried flowers;
  • Sharp scissors;
  • Rope, lace or tape to bind stems;
  • Vase or flower pot;
  • Varnish for fastening.

Step by step we compose a bouquet of dried flowers

Step one. Look around the room, find a corner for flowers. Place bouquets of dried flowers better away from heating appliances and sunlight.

Step two. Depending on the size of the found place, choose a suitable pot or vase.

Step three. Put in front of you the necessary tools and dried flowers.

Step four. Collect the dried flowers in the bouquet.

Step five. Scissors shorten the stems to the desired length and firmly, but gently tie a tape.

Step Six. Cover the composition with varnish (preferably aerosol), so as to minimize contact with flowers. Wait for drying. If you want to preserve the natural aroma of dried flowers, then skip this paragraph.

Materials for the composition in the pot

It is necessary to prepare the following:

  • Small and low vessel, it is not necessary to buy a pot, you can even use cups from under the curd;
  • gypsum;
  • scissors;
  • Dried flowers;
  • Moss, sisal or decorative pebbles (to close the voids in the composition);
  • Varnish;
  • Decorative elements for decorating a pot.

Step one. Zaderize your vessel to make it look like a pot. If you use purchased, then this item can still be skipped.

Step two. Dilute the instructions of the plaster, pour into the pot, not reaching the edge of a centimeter or two.

Step three. While the gypsum is not dry, gently stick the dried flowers, with scissors, cutting the stems to the desired length. It is better to leave it small. The composition of dried flowers with your own hands looks good if the whole surface of the pot is closed. Therefore, try to place the plants as close to each other as possible.

Step four. Again, while the gypsum is not dry, we close the voids with moss, sisal or decorative stones. For convenience, you can take tweezers.

Step five. If you used a ready bought pot, then it's time to decorate it. Maybe he does not have enough streaks, lace or something else?

Step Six. Cover the product with varnish, wait until it dries.

Step Seven. Admire the result!
