Getting Started

Naturally, decoupage bottles with napkins requires an absolutely clean surface. Therefore, the container is thoroughly laundered, all stickers and labels are removed from it. The washed surface is degreased with acetone, alcohol or a liquid for washing glasses.

The second stage: priming. The easiest way is to perform it with white acrylic paint. Perhaps your artistic idea suggests on the bottle an open "window" where there will be no decor. Naturally, this area should not be covered with soil.

The third stage: preparation of a napkin. If the selected tissue is not thick enough, it should be lightly sprinkled with hairspray and allowed to dry. Then the layers are carefully separated, and the planned plot with a drawing is pulled out by hands. Such an uneven edge, oddly enough, is better smoothed and becomes invisible in the finished product.

Stage four: gluing. Spread the bottle with glue and gently apply a napkin. Start on one side, avoiding the appearance of possible folds. The edges are especially carefully smoothed. If you use a special adhesive for decoupage, it can be applied over the napkin. In this case, it is easier to avoid defects. Leave the work to dry.

Stage five: details and color. If an additional drawing is suggested, framing a napkin, we put it first with a simple pencil, and then covered with paint or an acrylic contour. If there is none, cover your product with the paint of the desired color, smoothing out all the contours in the place of gluing. In accordance with the plan, we apply gilding, silver, we glue the elements of incrustation.

The sixth stage: varnishing. After the paint is dry (give it a day), the bottle is covered with a layer of clear acrylic lacquer.

Perhaps you want to artificially age your creation, depicting on it with special means "the dust of centuries". But, by and large, the decoupage of a bottle with napkins is completed. As you can see, it is not necessary to be an artist to create beauty with your own hands. Enough desire, patience and work, from which you get great pleasure.
