Basic setting of the browser "Opera"

To be able to view various Internet resources, you need a special browser program. There is a rather large selection of such solutions, sometimes quite different from each other. It is impossible to say which browser is the best, as each of them has a number of features that make it popular in certain circles of users. So, the "Explorer" (Internet Explorer) from Microsoft is convenient because it is part of the Windows operating system; "Chrome" (Google Chrome) has the greatest compatibility with old and new standards; Firefox has a low memory consumption, etc.

Experienced users know that before starting to use, the browser must be configured - this will solve some issues before they occur. Today we will talk about the basic configuration of a very convenient browser - "Opera".

Configuring the Opera browser

There are two branches of the development of this program, one of which ends on version 12.16, and the other is already represented by version 19.0. Consider the first, performed on the engine Presto, as the browser setting in subsequent versions is similar to Google Chrome. If the user is one, then we recommend making a small change to the configuration file, thereby making the "Opera" portable. This setting of the Opera browser will save all data when reinstalling the operating system and immediately continue working. Of course, the folder with the program should not be deleted. We believe that this is one of the most important moments when tuning "for yourself." In the directory with the installed program, you need to find the file operaprefs_default.ini, open it in notepad and add the block

[System]

Multi User = 0

The browser is further configured as follows. In the running program, you need to press the combination Ctrl + F12 and choose which page to open at startup (if there are no special requirements, then specify SpeedDial). In the "Advanced" tab, the "Downloads" item is of special interest, where you need to specify the desired folder. Here, by removing the tick for hiding the types and double clicking on the desired extension, you can select the application that will be launched from the "Opera". For example, it's so convenient to associate torrent files with the client program. In the next tab - "Programs" - the default browser is configured : by checking the check box, you can tell the system to open all links using this application.

Remember all ...

The History tab allows you to set the size of the cache: the larger it is, the less requests the browser sends to frequently visited pages, since some of the data once downloaded is stored on the computer. When setting up, it's worth noting that if there are more than 1000 addresses, there may be malfunctions. On weak computers, the "Cache in memory" should not be set too large: it is preferable to leave it in automatic mode. The tab "Security" is also of special interest: here the user can activate or deactivate the algorithm of protection against fraudulent Internet resources. It is not recommended to disable this feature. Here you can also select the browser update mode.

Additions

But having chosen in the main menu of the program "Extensions", you can go to the page for selecting and downloading additional modules that expand the browser's capabilities. We recommend not to ignore this feature, but carefully study the list of offers and add the necessary modules to the program.

Resetting to initial parameters

Sometimes for one reason or another there is a need to return all the settings to their original form. To do this, delete the operaprefs.ini file. You can determine its placement by opening the menu item "Help - About".
