The child's eyes fester: what to do if there is no opportunity to visit an ophthalmologist

If the child's eyes fester , what should I do? If this happens, many mothers can easily diagnose - conjunctivitis. This disease means inflammation of the mucous eye (conjunctiva), hence its name also follows.

Conjunctivitis, as a rule, is caused by various viruses (influenza, herpes, adenovirus, measles virus) and bacteria (streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci, meningococci). The disease can also be caused by allergies (eg, dust, pollen).

Typical signs of conjunctivitis

Determine the disease in the child can be completely independent, guided by such symptoms:

  • The child has photophobia;
  • In the morning on the eyelids there are crusts of yellow color;
  • The baby's eyes are very festering, and when the eyelid is pulled back, redness and swelling are clearly visible.

Young parents need to know that newborns do not have tears, and if a month's child has a faint eye, a tear flows, then the child is likely to have conjunctivitis, and urgent measures must be taken.

Older children can complain about a painful feeling in the eye area, itching, burning or feeling, as if something is interfering with the eye. Because of all these sensations, vision can decrease, and the child will say that the eyes are cloudy.

It is very dangerous for babies up to seven years old. Every child of this age group likes to play with other children, so he can infect his healthy peers. If the child's eyes fester, what should parents do in this case? It is necessary to apply as soon as possible for qualified help to an ophthalmologist.

Also, if the child has a pronounced reddening of the eyeball, it can be caused by a glaucoma attack or by a simple ciliary injection into the eye.

The child's eyes fester: what to do if there is no doctor

Of course, it is best to contact a doctor right away, but if for some reason this is not possible, it is necessary to provide the child with self-help. It consists in the following:

  1. Every two hours a child needs to wash his eyes with a cotton disc moistened in a decoction of chamomile medicinal or furatsilina. If these funds are not available, the strong welding of black tea (but not packaged) helps. To wash out eyes it is necessary so that peels of pus easily left from eyelids. You do not need to rip them off, just simply apply moist cotton wool to your eyes, lightly pressing and removing the crusts. This must be done the first two days and, recall, every two hours.
  2. The next five days do the same, only three times a day.
  3. In addition to washing, it is necessary to instill disinfectants into the eyes once every four hours. For this purpose, you can use 10% (for babies) or 20% (for children from 1 year) solution of the albucid.

The child's eyes fester: what if the above methods do not help, and the inflammation of the eye has not passed? Hence the disease is caused by more serious factors, and therefore it is necessary to take radical measures. The eyes of the child in this case are treated with such drugs: Vitabakt, Futsitalmik, Kolbiotsin, Tobrex, Tetracycline.

It is important to know

In case of inflammation of the conjunctiva, the child should not wear a blindfold. This will only aggravate the situation, as a favorable environment for the development of bacteria under the bandage will be created.
