Childhood and youth of the future cosmonaut

Savinikh Viktor Petrovich, cosmonaut of the USSR at number 50, was born in the small village of Berezkin, which is located on the shore of a small river Prudishche in Orichevsky district of the Kirov region. Studies in Moscow

Long three years did not go in vain for the future conqueror of the cosmos. Having received the military specialty of a topographer, Viktor Petrovich predetermines his future path in life. In 1963, after demobilizing from the Armed Forces, another student appeared in the country - Victor Petrovich Savinykh.

MIIGAiK, or the Moscow Institute of Geodesy, Aerial Photography and Cartography, becomes its alma mater. Leninsky Fellowship, Deputy Chairman of the Komsomol Organization of the Optical and Mechanical Faculty of MIIGAiK, Savinikh Victor Petrovich graduated with honors in 1969 from a higher educational institution and is sent to work at the Central Experimental Design Bureau of General Mechanical Engineering, now the research and production association Energia.

Victor Petrovich Savinykh: biography of the scientist

More than 20 years of his life, VP Savinykh devoted a systematic development of control and automation of orbital stations, fixed platforms and space vehicles, passing the path from an ordinary engineer to the project manager. All optical instruments for the Salyut orbital stations and Soyuz spacecraft were designed with his direct participation. In 1985, on the basis of NPO Energia, Viktor Petrovich defended his scientific work on the theme "Orientation of spacecraft in near-Earth orbit" and became a candidate of technical sciences.

A detachment of astronauts

After passing the full course of general space and physical training, V. P. Savinykh is enlisted in the detachment of Soviet cosmonauts. There was this significant event in December 1978. The next ten years were the most significant in the fate of Victor Petrovich. Three times he was lucky to watch our planet from the orbital stations Salyut, having spent a total of slightly more than 252 days in outer space.

Outside the planet Earth

May 26, 1981 completed his space flight "Soyuz T-4." As part of the crew:

  • VV Kovalyonok is the captain of a space ship.
  • VP Savinykh is an onboard engineer of the orbital station.

Working on the program "Intercosmos", the orbital station was attended by cosmonauts from Mongolia and Syria. The crew spent less than 75 days outside the Earth.

The radio call sign "Pamir-2" became for the flight engineer VP Savinykh a second name when, together with the ship's captain VA Dzhanibekov, he made his second space expedition to the orbital station "Soyuz T-13" in the crew of the spacecraft "Soyuz T-13" Salyut-7 ». According to the flight program, Viktor Petrovich was outside the space "house" for 5 hours. The total duration of the flight exceeded 168 days.

The third time to experience the cosmic happiness Viktor Petrovich happened in 1988. The crew of the ten-day flight on the Soyuz TM-5 spacecraft was international:

  • A. Ya. Soloviev (USSR) - the captain.
  • VP Savinykh (USSR) is a station engineer.
  • A. Aleksandrov (Bulgaria) is a cosmonaut-researcher.

These three flights were awarded with the awards of the Motherland, the People's Republic of Bulgaria and the Mongolian People's Republic. Two awards "Gold Star" Hero of the Soviet Union, medal "Hero on NR Bulgaria" and the highest honorary title of Mongolia - Hero of the MPR today adorn the lapel of civil costume of the pilot-cosmonaut number 100 in the international list of astronauts.

The Fate of the Astronaut

Victor Savinikh completed his space career in 1989, having left his own free will from the squad of the space brotherhood. The next stage of his life he devotes to science and teaching activities, being the rector of his native university MIIGAiK. The post of rector was assigned to VP Savinykh until May 2007, when the 66-year-old candidate refused to run for the post of head of the higher educational institution of Moscow. Public and political activities of a man who has watched the Earth three times through the porthole of a space ship, causes admiration and admiration. In addition to numerous awards from the government of the USSR, the Russian Federation and foreign countries, VP Savinykh also has a public gratitude.
