Concussion of the brain: treatment, description and diagnosis
Possible reasons
If you fell and hit your head, bruised it, or just made a sharp move, the result may be a concussion of the brain. Treatment of it is largely determined by the cause of the injury. According to statistics, most often it is caused by automobile accidents, fights, sports and industrial injuries.
Description
What generally happens at this moment in our head? To this question modern medicine finds it difficult to give an answer. Studies of the damaged brain using computed tomography do not yield any results. Therefore, the history of the disease "concussion of the brain" is written mainly from the words of the patient. Most doctors adhere to the theory that layers of the brain tissue are shifted somewhat, which leads to a deterioration in their nutrition and, as a consequence, a disruption in the connection between the brain centers. In addition, cases of rupture of blood vessels are not uncommon. The main trouble that can occur as a result of a concussion is intracranial bleeding. Blood squeezes the brain structures and prevents them from functioning normally.
Diagnostics
How to understand that you had a brain concussion in front of your eyes? Treatment, of course, can begin only after you are convinced of the correctness of the diagnosis. As a rule, the victim is deprived of feelings for several minutes. The longer he remained unconscious, the heavier the trauma was. After the person comes to himself, he does not immediately manage to remember what happened and where he is. "An alarm bell" is a memory loss: he can completely forget about all the latest events.
First aid
When the brain is shaken, it must be given immediately, before the arrival of the "First Aid". What can you personally do? Put the person on the bed. Lift his head and apply a cold compress. Give the victim water and the more alcohol is strictly prohibited! The maximum is sweet tea.
Treatment
The victim was put on bed rest. On this principle, all treatment is based. As a rule, primary rehabilitation takes place within 1-2 days. If the patient requires further hospitalization, the recovery period can last up to five or even seven days. The course of therapy is determined by the attending physician. If after this period the patient does not have any complications, then he is discharged for outpatient treatment, which, on average, takes about two weeks.
