Potal - what is it, the description of technology and features

At present, chemists and technologists manage to find an alternative option - to invent a material that by its characteristics and external data is not inferior to real gold used in decorative and applied art! Get acquainted, this is patal ...

Description

What is patal? This material (varieties will be considered further), which is successfully used in decorative gilding surfaces - huge and small, smooth and not very. She helps the master create an imitation of gold, silver or bronze coating on various surfaces.

It is also known that potal is such a truly modern imitator of gold leaf. It can be in the form of thin leaves or strips of gold color (like foil) made of copper and zinc alloy, and it can be liquid.

As noted above, this material is not only of gold color, but also of silver and bronze.

Potal serves for creative finishing of surfaces of products made of wood, ceramics, glass, cardboard, bone, ferrous metals, gypsum and others.

Varieties potali

1. Liquid potal - is a chrome-plated paint with metallic radiance. It consists of varnishes, pigments and solvents.

Some masters, perhaps, do not consider this variety to be the material "potal", calling it an imitation of the sweat. But still it, just like the sheet, creates a beautiful smooth surface of golden (silver or bronze) color.

It has a pungent odor.

2. Potal leaf is a very common and more convenient type of material. And most often used!

Especially good then leaf pantal, when it is necessary to cover a very large surface.

As a rule, it is manufactured and delivered to the consumer in the form of so-called books 14х14 or 16х16 centimeters. In one book there are about 25 sheets and each of them is separated by a piece of thin parchment paper.

There are also colors of gold, silver, copper.

3. Potal "crumb" - slightly loose material. Successfully applied when covering an imperfectly smooth surface. For example, it can be rims, lines, with a stencil technique.

And crumb can be of different shades or colors, which contributes to an interesting decorative solution in the process of its application.

4. Roll potal - made in rolls about 50 meters long and 1-15 centimeters wide. It is used when it is necessary to cover the seams and joints or a very flat surface.

5. Transfer podal - very economical in its application. Each leaf is applied to the thinnest paper, film, tracing paper. And it can be used many times - until all the material on the surface of this film is used.

Sequence of application of the material

Potassium deposition technology has its own characteristics, but in general, everything is quite simple and understandable.

1. Sheet pothal. The material should be applied to a previously degreased, surface covered surface.

Also, before applying potal, it is necessary to treat the surface with special glue (on water or oil basis) or with gilding milk. In the case of water-based glue, the surface is ready to be applied to it directly directly after 15-20 minutes. If the glue is oil-based, then it will take about 12 hours.

Next, the sheet is taken and transferred to the surface already prepared for it and leveled with a thin cloth to remove the various folds and air layers.

In order for the gilded surface to retain its shine and freshness for as long as possible, it must be applied with a special shellac varnish or any other varnish designed to protect the surface from mechanical damage.

2. Liquid potal . It is applied, as a rule, to a metal surface, glass, wood, plastics, gypsum, ceramics. The material has a fairly uniform, dense density, is not oxidized, a sufficiently high degree of water resistance.

It is recommended to apply the potali with a brush flat or with a foam sponge.

The surface to be painted is necessarily cleaned and degreased.

The container with paint must be shaken slightly before use.

As a rule, pour is laid in several layers. But it is important to remember that each successive layer is applied only to a well dried previous one! On average, potal dries a day.

You can use an airbrush - such a special spray for liquid potala. Then the layer dries 1-2 hours. This option, of course, is more suitable if the work needs to be done in the shortest possible time.

Material Advantages

Liquid potal is designed to restore the color of gold (silver, bronze) coating on objects. This kind of material is fairly easy to use and has a relatively low cost compared to sheet or roll potala.

Sheet pantalum is used for design and creativity. It can perfectly be used in interior design, as well as in the processing of dishes, and in other creative and decorative works (for example, decoupage).

And still sheet (mirror) potal is a very high quality substitute for gold leaf or silver. Apply it as easily as real gold leaf. The result is an ideal mirror surface.

The work of the master with the use of potali

In this section, a step-by-step implementation of the concrete work with the potal - the wooden hanger for the hallway - will be described. Two techniques of decorative creativity are used at the same time: decoupage and painting by potalya.

Materials for work: a wooden blank in the form of a pine board measuring 40x25 centimeters, a round medallion with a diameter of 10 centimeters, hooks for a hanger, potal "crumb" (gold and silver colors), glue for water-based sweat, napkin and printout for decoupage, glue for The same technique, a white primer, an acrylic contour for the glass surface.

Creative work begins with the fact that the surface of the wooden board is smoothed to a smooth surface with a grinding paper. Then without a preliminary priming with the help of technology decoupage is pasted a special napkin, more precisely - its fragment with the desired pattern. After drying again, the surface is rubbed to perfectly smooth with a grinding paper.

Round medallion is ground, then dried and also abraded by grinding paper. On its surface is applied glue for potali, after it dries - and the very potal of silver color. After drying, the surface is polished again.

With the help of a stencil on the medallion, the contour lines of a bird and twigs are depicted. Then they are applied to them with glue for potalis and the material itself - now of gold color.

As a result, the medallion is covered with several layers of varnish.

Meanwhile, work continues on the wooden base for the hanger. A toothpick (previously moistened with glue for potali) is specified the drawing of birds, twigs, stems and so on. All these motifs are covered with penta.

After drying, the whole hanger is covered with varnish. The medallion is fastened and the hooks are screwed.

Who would have thought that such potal can create a real miracle - so decorate the work!

Cost of material

The price was liquid: the capacity of 50 ml - 450 rubles, 100 ml - 520 rubles.

In rolls - from 370 rubles to 4500 rubles per roll - depending on its width, length and manufacturer.

There are many suppliers of this material: in Russia and in Germany. For every taste.

conclusions

All the same, the advantages of the material are obvious! Due to the fact that potal is such an interesting and inexpensive material, restorers have a wonderful opportunity to transform old treasures: icons, paintings, murals, sculptures. And thus, preserve the legacy left to us from distant ancestors. And also potal master allows you to create and new masterpieces!
