Planting a peach in autumn. Prune Peeling

For most people, there is no tastier fruit than a dripping sweet nectar, a fragrant pink peach.

This fruit tree requires special attention and care from the gardener who decided to "tame" this uneasy plant.

Let's try to understand what this culture is - a peach, planting and care for it which features. In his historic homeland, the peach has become accustomed to the sun and the dry, windless climate. This means that these factors must be taken into account when deciding whether to plant it. Is it possible to plant a peach in the fall? There is no unambiguous answer to this question.

Gardeners-practitioners and scientists argue about the advantages of autumn and spring planting and have not yet come to a consensus. However, it is commonly believed that spring planting is suitable for colder climatic zones, and the farther south and warmer, the more justified the planting of a peach in autumn. This is logical, since in southern regions the climate is milder, frosts do not occur at times until the end of November, which allows the tree to take root well.

Choose the right seedling

Do not plant a seed from the tasty fruit bought on the market. Do not hope that you can grow a full-fledged plant from a bone - unfortunately, it does not preserve the properties of the mother tree, and the quality of the fruit will be much worse. Get a seedling in a reliable kennel. Focus on its root system. Roots should be branched, friable like a sponge. This indicates their health. Do not flatter yourself by one large root, such a tree is weak, and it will take a long time to get accustomed. Planting and pruning peaches are interrelated things. Before planting, you need to remove the leaves and extra twigs (they draw moisture and nourishment on themselves, preventing the roots from getting accustomed to). The best seedling is a naked low stick.

Choose a plot in the garden

Let us dwell in more detail on how the planting of the peach seedlings takes place. For a tree, you need to choose a suitable place. Optimal conditions - the sunny side of the garden, sheltered from the wind by a construction or a fence, at a distance from buildings and other plantings a minimum of 1.5-2 meters. The peach loves loamy soils rich in humus.

We prepare the place of permanent residence

It is very important to carefully prepare a pit for planting a tree. Dimensions of the pit itself depend on the diameter and length of the root system, on average it is 50x50x50, and can be more. When excavating a pit, the top soil (the most fertile) is laid on one side, the lower one on the other side, without mixing them. Prepared marmew mixed with the ground from the top and fall asleep on the bottom with a cone. With heavy clay soil, you can add river sand. If the seedling is thin and fragile, beforehand insert one or two sticks into the pit to support a fragile tree.

If they are stuck after planting, you can damage the roots. At this stage you need to water a little pit, about a bucket of water. Carefully straighten the roots of the peach and put it on a cone from the ground.

Mineral fertilizers do not need to be placed, as this can burn the roots, while the tree still has enough organic matter from the humus. We fall asleep with the remained ground from the bottom horizon of a hole, again we pour in 1-2 buckets of water. Gradual watering is necessary to prevent soil blocking. Seedling is carefully fixed to the stakes for support. After absorbing moisture, you can take the place of planting. Uttumbovka is made loose, we place the toe of the foot next to the trunk, and the heel takes the earth in a circle. The finishing touch is the mulching of the stump circle, which allows to regulate the heat exchange around the root system of the tree. Mulch can be sawdust, shavings, crushed pieces of bark, needles, dry leaves, pebbles, pebbles and much more.

We make shelter for the winter period

Planting a peach in the autumn requires protecting it before the winter cold. The degree of shelter depends on the region, the characteristics of the weather, the security of the site itself. The shelter can be stationary (for example, the frame of pipes, on which the heater is put on) and temporary. To prepare for wintering, you need to form a hillock 30 cm high above the scion around the stem of the seedling. This will keep warm in the roots and root zone of the neck. One of the popular solutions is the sacking, which is wrapped with a seedling along with sticks. The original way is to put a cardboard box filled with hay on the seedling. Preference should be given to breathable materials, or provide ventilation holes on the south side of the shelter. Planting a peach in the autumn gives an opportunity to grow strong in the tree and get a big increase next summer.

Crop and care

In spring, when the weather is stable, a warm "clothing" is removed and the peach is carefully examined. Planting and caring for it requires certain practical skills, especially for pruning and shaping.

Key rules of peach trimming:

  1. Pruning before flowering in the phase of the so-called pink bud.
  2. Mandatory pruning of dry dead branches (sanitary pruning).
  3. Removal of branches growing towards the central trunk and thickening the crown.
  4. Removal of branches-doubles and tops, interfering with the normal development of the main branches.
  5. Trimming a one-third branch.

Correctly form the crown

The formation pursues several goals. It allows you to maximize the clarity and air of the crown, which is an excellent prevention against diseases. It also facilitates the convenience of harvesting. Now the most common form is the type of bowl. The formation takes place up to 5-6 years. It is extremely important to trim with a sharpened tool. The saw and the pruner must be treated with ethyl alcohol after working with each tree. This will help prevent the entry of microorganisms from a diseased culture into a healthy one. Normalization of the harvest allows you to improve the health of the tree, the taste and size of the fruit. To do this, it is necessary to thin the part of the ovary, removing the bunches and preferring single fruits. Peach prefers a rare, but abundant watering.

The best reward for a gardener is a flowering healthy peach. Planting and care, pruning and shaping, regular watering and fertilizing fertilizers - owning these techniques will achieve the desired harvest!
