The flower of the alissum belongs to the cruciferous family. It is used with pleasure in ornamental plantings, planted around the flowerbed, in boxes on balconies, in mixed flower beds. Small fragrant flowers abundantly cover the entire plant from the beginning of summer and until the onset of good frosts already. There are more than 100 species of this plant. Gardeners most often used such species as Silvery, Sea, Rock, "Violet", "Shneetippich". Very popular flowers are alisum "Snowy carpet". Flower alissum loves sunny open spaces. To the ground, it is not particularly demanding, but light soils are desirable. Propagate this flower with seeds. At the end of March or early April, sow his seeds in a box. Sprouts will appear in 6-10 days. The optimum temperature for seedling growth is about 20ºC. If there is no possibility to grow seedlings, then at the end of April or early May, sow the seeds directly into the soil. In this case, flowering will come a little later, but it will last longer. It is necessary to know that only the annual species of the alissum bloom in the first year. On perennial varieties, flowers will only appear next summer.

To the annuals belongs the sea alissum, it is also called "lobularia" and "stonemason". This is a low plant with small flowers, which can be lilac, pink, white or purple. They completely cover the bush, it turns out a grand splendor.

Such species as the silver and the silver alsussum refer to perennials. Flowers of the first gentle lemon yellow color. This species differs silvery shade of leaves from the back side. Alyssum rocky has bright, collected in multi-flowered inflorescence golden yellow flowers. By the way, it is already very early in the spring blooming, but it happens only for a month. And as soon as the inflorescences wilted, they must be cut off. Leave a hemp height of only 6 cm. Then the plant will again enjoy its flowering.
