Patriotic education of our children or where does the Motherland begin?

It's no secret that the system of modern education is undergoing significant changes. Unfortunately, most of today's children do not know who Joseph Stalin and Mikhail Gorbachev were when the Great Patriotic War was, what is the "Time of Troubles" and why Peter the Great "cut the window to Europe". Meanwhile, these and other historical issues are the main step in the formation of such a category as patriotic upbringing. Many adults do not realize the importance of this category, and by the way, it would be worth thinking about. Everyone knows that children are our future, the future of the whole country. And what future awaits the country in which neither the head of state, nor ministers, nor teachers, nor scientists - nobody will know the history of their state? Very, very sad! Therefore, today we need to think about the patriotic education our children receive. And not only to think, but also to carry out active work with children (especially if you are a teacher or educator). Patriotic education should be conducted systematically, a whole complex of activities should be conducted, aimed at inculcating a sense of patriotism. Many teachers adhere to another logic, saying: "Children, Russia is our Motherland, we should all love it." I assure you, this approach is not only inefficient, but on the contrary, it can cause rejection by the child.

It is advisable to start the feeling of patriotism from the earliest age. For example, patriotic education in kindergarten should be done by learning children's songs and poems about the Motherland. You can spend the morning, aimed at feeling patriotism, for example, dedicated to the Day of the Defender of the Fatherland. It is also possible to spend some kind of holiday with the children, dedicated to the protection of the native nature, for example the Meeting of Spring or any other season, Autumn Gold, etc. After all, patriotism is not only the knowledge of history, it is knowledge about the country in all spheres, be it biology, ecology, geography, this knowledge of the customs and traditions of the country and respect for them. It is necessary to bring these truths to the kids in an accessible form for their age. Patriotic education in the kindergarten is carried out in the form of a game, this is the best option for children of this age.

With older children, students, you can use not only the game form. They are able to conduct various thematic evenings yourself, you will only need to guide them. Patriotic education in school is one of the most important tasks in the work of the teacher. How is it solved? Yes, all with the same systematic work as in the kindergarten, only now the level of complexity of explanations varies somewhat. With schoolchildren, it is possible to touch on more serious and complex topics, for example, the reasons for the onset of some military conflict. It is very important that the events are not only informative, but also deeply emotional. Make the children empathize! The lessons of courage and meetings with veterans or participants in combat operations are very good in terms of emotionality. Patriotic education in the school can also be carried out by holding thematic evenings, for example, Poetry Evening about the War or Homeland, class hours on patriotic themes (especially on the eve of Victory Day). It may seem that patriotic education is a completely uncreatious process, but in fact it is far from being so! Where, how not in this sphere are the talents of children manifested ? You can put a sketch or even a full-scale performance (depending on the age of the children), for example, on the works of Boris Vasilyev, Konstantin Vorobyov or Vasil Bykov. It will help to open talents and a contest of reciters or a song concert on a patriotic theme. And you can even make a concert-medley, where there will be poetry, songs, and literary sketches. Here everything is limited only by your imagination.

But patriotic education would be incomplete without one more detail. Teach your children compassion. In our cruel world there are so few people who are able to regret, sympathize and provide real help and support to those who need it. Take patronage over the veteran or pupils of the orphanage.
