Regiment: number. Number of companies, battalion, regiment. Artillery regiment

One of the main structural units of the armed forces is the regiment. The size of its composition depends on the type of troops, and its complete staffing is one of the factors ensuring the army's fighting efficiency. The regiment consists of smaller structural units. Let's find out what the company, regiment, battalion is, and the number of these divisions by the main types of troops. Particular attention will be paid to the completion of the artillery regiment.

What is a regiment?

First of all, let's find out what a regiment is. The number of personnel in the various arms of this unit will be clarified later.

The regiment is a combat unit, which is often commanded by an officer in the rank of colonel, although there are exceptions. In the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the regiment is the main tactical unit on the basis of which a military unit is being formed .

The regiment includes smaller structural units - battalions. The regiment itself can both be part of the compound, and be a separate combat force. It is the command of the regiments in most cases making tactical decisions during a large-scale battle. Although quite often the shelves are used and as completely separate and independent units.

Number composition

Now let's find out the number of servicemen in the regiment, taking as a basis the composition of the infantry regiment as the most typical one. This military unit, as a rule, contains from 2,000 to 3,000 soldiers. And approximately this number is observed in almost all the army (except that excluding artillery and some other kinds of troops) and even in law enforcement. A similar number of servicemen, for example, has an infantry regiment, the number of soldiers in which is also from two to three thousand people. Although there are exceptions, but the minimum number of servicemen in the regiment in any case can not be less than 500 people.

A typical rifle regiment consists of a headquarters where main decisions are made, three motorized rifle battalions, a communications company, a tank battalion. Also in the structure of this unit there should be an anti-aircraft battalion, an reconnaissance company, an anti-tank battery, a communications company, an engineer-sapper company, a repair company, a chemical, biological and radiation protection company. Recently, more and more important functions are performed by a company of electronic warfare. Although in Soviet times this division was also very significant. The composition of the regiment is complemented by auxiliary units: the commandant's platoon, the medical-sanitary company and the orchestra. But they are additional only conditional, since, for example, a health care company performs functions much more important, if one can say so than other units. After all, the lives of other soldiers depend on the fighters of this structural unit.

Approximately such a structure has a typical regiment. Photo of the fighters of this formation you can observe above.

Composition of the battalion

As a rule, from two to four battalions form a regiment. The number of servicemen in the battalion will now be considered.

The battalion is considered the main tactical unit of ground troops. The range of personnel in this unit ranges from 400 to 800 people. It includes several platoons, as well as individual companies.

If we consider artillery, the combat unit, which corresponds to the battalion, is called a division.

As a rule, a battalion is commanded by a serviceman in the rank of major. Although, of course, there are exceptions. Especially often they can be found during the fighting, when in the armed forces of the country or a separate unit there may be an acute shortage of a cadre of officers.

Consider the structure of the battalion with the example of a motorized rifle division. As a rule, the backbone of this structural unit is three motorized rifles. In addition, the battalion includes a mortar battery, a grenade launcher, an anti-tank platoon, and a control platoon. Additional, but not less important units are platoons of material and technical support, as well as a medical point.

Number of companies

Rota is this smaller structural subdivision that is part of the battalion. As a rule, it is commanded by the captain, and in some cases by the major.

The size of the company of the battalion varies greatly depending on the type of troops. Most of all soldiers in the company building battalions. There their number reaches 250 people. In motorized rifle divisions, it varies from 60 to 101 servicemen. Slightly less personnel in the amphibious forces. Here the number of army men does not exceed 80 people. But the least number of soldiers in tank companies. There are altogether 31 to 41 servicemen. In general, depending on the type of troops and on a particular state, the number of servicemen in the company can vary from 18 to 280 people.

In addition, in some branches of the army there is no such unit as the company, but at the same time there are analogues. For the cavalry, this squadron, which includes about a hundred people, for artillery - the battery, for the border troops - the outpost, for aviation - the link.

The company consists of a commanding staff and several platoons. Also in the company may include special units that are not part of the platoons.

Smaller units

The platoon consists of several branches, and the strength of its personnel varies from 9 to 50 people. As a rule, a platoon commander is a serviceman with the rank of lieutenant.

The smallest in the number of permanent units in the army is the separation. The number of servicemen in it ranges from three to sixteen. The commander of the branch in most cases appointed a soldier in the rank of sergeant or senior sergeant.

Number of artillery regiment

It is time to consider in more detail what the artillery regiment is like, the strength of the personnel of this unit and some other parameters.

The artillery regiment is a structural unit of such troops as artillery. As a rule, it is included as an integral part in the artillery division, consisting of three to four divisions.

The numerical strength of the artillery regiment is smaller than the corresponding unit in other branches of the army. This figure depends on how many divisions are included in the regiment. With three divisions, its strength ranges from 1,000 to 1,200 people. If there are four battalions, the number of servicemen reaches 1,500 soldiers.

Artillery Regiment Structure

Like any other military unit, the artillery regiment has its own structure. Let's study it.

Structural elements of the artillery regiment are divided into three main groups: management, logistics and combat support units, as well as directly the main striking force - the linear units.

It is these elements that make up the artillery regiment. The photo of the structure of the regiment is located higher.

Control structure of the shelf

In turn, the management of the regiment is divided into the following elements: command, headquarters, technical unit and rear.

The commander includes the regiment commander (most often in the rank of colonel or lieutenant-colonel), his deputy, the chief for physical training and the assistant commander for educational work. The last post in the Soviet era was the post of a political deputy.

The headquarters part includes the chief of staff, his deputy, as well as the heads of intelligence, topographic service, communications, the secret section, the computer department and the assistant for the military unit.

In the rear part of the regiment's control there are deputy commander for logistics, chiefs of food, clothing, fuel and lubricants and clothing services.

The technical part of the regiment's control includes the deputy on armament, the heads of the armored, automotive and rocket-artillery services.

In addition, the commanders of the regiment report directly to the heads of financial, chemical and medical services.

The composition of the logistics and combat support division

The logistics and combat support subdivision is divided into the following structural elements: medical unit, club, repair company, logistics company, artillery reconnaissance battery and control battery.

This division is commanded by the deputy regiment commander for logistics, who himself enters the administrative part of the regiment, as discussed above.

Composition of line units

It is to the linear units that the main function of the artillery regiment's existence is entrusted, since they direct fire on the enemy from the guns.

The regiment includes four line divisions: self-propelled, mixed, howitzer and reactive. Sometimes a mixed battalion may be absent. In this case, three units remain the backbone of the regiment.

Each division is divided, as a rule, into three batteries, which, in turn, consist of three or four platoons.

The size and structure of the division

As it was said above, three or four regiments form an artillery division. The number of personnel in this division reaches six thousand people. As a rule, the division commander is entrusted to a serviceman with the rank of major general, but there have been cases when these divisions were commanded by colonels and even lieutenant colonels.

Two divisions form the largest link in artillery - the corps. The number of servicemen in artillery corps can reach the number of 12,000 people. The commander of such a unit is often Lieutenant-General.

General principles of the formation of the number of units

We studied the size of the division, regiment, company, battalion, division and smaller structural units of various arms, placing emphasis on artillery. As we can see, the number of servicemen in similar units in various troops can vary significantly. This is due to the direct purpose of the various arms of the armed forces. The basis is taken by the most optimal number of servicemen to perform specific tasks. Each indicator is not only a product of strict scientific calculation, but also experience in conducting combat operations in practice. That is, each figure is based on the spilled blood of the fighters.

Thus, we see that there are very small units in the army, in which the number of servicemen can be equal to even three people, as well as the largest units, where the total number is estimated at tens of thousands of servicemen. At the same time, we must also take into account that in foreign countries the number of similar units can significantly differ from domestic options.

Like everything else in this world, the science of conducting combat operations is progressing, new technologies and even new kinds of troops are emerging. For example, in Russia not so long ago appeared the Air and Space Forces, which are a product of the evolution and development of the Air Force. With the advent of new combat arms and the changing forms of warfare, it is certainly possible to adjust the number of personnel of the units taking into account the new conditions.
