Jen Psak: biography, career. Statements by Jen Psaky

In the world there are thousands of famous and public people, but some of them stand out even against the background of their "colleagues." A clear example is Jen Psaky. Until recently, she was just one of many American officials, but in the light of the recent Ukrainian conflict her star brightly shone on the world's sky ...

Jen Psaki - perhaps, at the moment, one of the most famous American politicians. Her name is familiar even to those of our citizens who until recently did not show any interest in the work of the US State Department! The explanation is simple - its photos and statements often appear in all domestic media, and this fate was not avoided even the most remote from the policy edition.

Brief biographical note

Jen Psaky was born near New York, in the town of Stamford, Connecticut. It happened on December 1, 1978. Her mother was a psychotherapist, her father worked as a builder. James, Jen's father, has now completed his construction practice and is on a well-deserved pension. Mother, Elin Midway, is still a well-known practicing psychotherapist, highly appreciated by her patients in Greenwich. By the way! Until recently, there was almost no information about the real age and origin of Jen, but the dramatically increased popularity of it (especially in our country) was simply forced by the policy yet to reveal the cards.

Virtually the entire population of her home town adheres to exclusively democratic views. The family of Jen Psak is no exception, and therefore it is not surprising that the girl chose to start her career in the Democratic Party of the United States. Despite her American origin, she herself admitted that the roots of her family go to Poland and Greece.

Education

Unlike many of their peers, Jen has set herself the task of obtaining the most qualitative and versatile education from an early age. First she (in 1996) successfully graduated from Greenwich High School (in her native state), and four years later she received a diploma from the College of Wilhelm and Mary (Virginia). By the way, there is still considered one of the best of their students is Jen Psak. The growth of her career is largely due to a good education.

Teachers and classmates say that Jen has always been different from other students with activity and curiosity. She was very enthusiastic in sports (and especially succeeded in swimming), and was also one of the most prominent members of the organization Chi Omega. Due to his activity and ability to make contact with people, Psaky (whose biography we are considering) quickly achieved success in his political career.

Political activity

Her career in American politics started in 2001, and Jen's teachers had many prominent figures. She started as a member of the Democratic Party, and her first assignment was just the conduct of pre-election campaign in Iowa. At this time, she "promoted" the two most successful candidates from the Democrats - Tom Vilcek and Tom Harkin.

In this position, the girl herself showed great, and therefore soon in her career the first breakthrough was outlined. She received the post of press secretary in an elected company of the notorious John Kerry. It was back in 2004. With her work she was doing fine, and therefore in 2005-2006 she became director of public relations. Its head was the head of the House of Representatives Joseph Crowley.

Three years later, her career gets a new impetus. Jen receives the post of secretary of the young and promising senator Barack Obama. When her superiors won the US presidential election, Psaky also gets a seat in the White House, initially working as a deputy press secretary. For unknown reasons, she for some time was "overboard" a big policy, but in February 2013, Psaky returned to the White House to a new position. Since then, and until recently (now she is on vacation in connection with the birth of a child), she officially represented the US Department of State.

Media and Fun

All this is good - a successful career of a young specialist. But there are many such people in American politics. Why, in our country, does the name of Psaky, an ordinary, in fact, secretary, know every schoolboy? It's all about her statements, which have focused attention on Jen from the very first days of the Ukrainian crisis.

Already now it is possible to publish a real "dictionary of winged expressions". Jen Psaki, whose quotations make people laugh even unsmiling people, has acquired an incredible popularity on the Runet. Owners of sites with jokes are just waiting to wait for her new performances, every second of which instantly becomes a meme and generates a whole wave of demotivators. From the very first days all the Internet public laughed at its "carousel mechanisms" and "Rostov mountains". Distinct answers from the lady could not be obtained: she did not explain the essence of these "carousels" herself, and she refused to search the map of Russia for the mountains in Rostov.

The absurdity of many of her phrases, she explains simply: "She became a victim of Russian propaganda." How to understand this, no one knows. Long before the first wave of sanctions against our country, it was already stipulated at the conference that the United States had already taken "tough measures" against Russia, for which the US State Department itself subsequently blundered. Even the administration of Barack Obama at one time had to justify himself for the fact that at an official press conference in the presence of dozens of foreign journalists, false information can be disclosed.

In the course of further briefings, the journalists nevertheless "squeezed" Jen, and she admitted her words ridiculous, but still she writes off everything that happened on the "difficulty of translation". And now we will talk about those of her pearls, thanks to which Jen Psaki is known today.

"Fuck the EU", or primordially Russian curse words

In early February 2014, Victoria Nuland pronounces in a telephone conversation the phrase "Fuck the EU", which immediately flew around the world and painfully hit the ego of European politicians. We will not translate it. Psak tried to "whitewash" her boss in negotiations with journalists: "Surely you know that at the age of 23, Victoria once spent eight months on board a Russian ship. Surely she learned this kind of vocabulary there. " Journalists quite rightly remarked that Russian sailors hardly swear in English. Psaka herself again translated into a joke. That's just the European journalists from the "Fuck the EU" was somehow not to laugh.

About office updates

In April of the same year, the lady commented on the demand of Russia, directed to the Ukrainian government, to pay off all the debts for the gas supplied to Ukraine. When the journalists tried to find out from Psak, why she finds it a strange and "illegal" legal requirement to receive money from the contracts, the politician again became confused: "I know what the Russians are saying. But if we take into account past contracts and the current situation, it becomes obvious that this is no longer a business dispute. "

The notorious Matthew Lee tried for several minutes to find out whether Russia has the right to demand money for the goods actually delivered. Psaki promised "to clarify in the office" and immediately went on to consider another issue.

This phrase became the basis for hundreds of anecdotes, especially in business circles: "The bank asks the client if he will pay on the overdue loan. He promises that he will clarify this issue in the office. " It is known how Jen Psaki reacted to these anecdotes: "The US constantly fixes Russian information attacks. These stories are one of the varieties of such aggression. "

The Belarus coast

In May of the same year, Psaky threatened Belarus that the sixth US fleet would be immediately transferred to the Belarusian shores if Lukashenka decides to invade Ukraine. In fairness, it should be noted that this statement was not documented. Perhaps it's just folk art. However, the Belarusian press service of Lukashenko himself took this threat quite officially: "If the sixth US fleet approaches the shores of Belarus, the 17th space Belarusian fleet immediately attacks Washington." Comments are superfluous.

About Europe, which supplies gas to Russia, and carousels

And again in May 2014, Jen pleased us with a new statement: "The gas that comes from Western Europe through the territory of Ukraine to Russia ..." Psak quickly realized that she said something wrong, but it was too late: journalists quickly spread her geographical Revelations around the world. At the same referendum she loudly condemned the elections in the People's Democratic Republic and the Czech Republic: "We do not in any way recognize the results of these elections. In social networks, we received information about voting children ... about the use of elective merry-go-rounds. "

Obviously, the last phrase cut the hearing of Matthew Lee. He insinuatedly inquired, and that such an "elective roundabout". Psaka blushed and admitted that she was just reading the text from the paper and had no idea about the interpretation of the term. When Lee asked if the Donbass policy was rolling around on the carousels, she said: "Everybody has their own technologies there."

About a democratic and strong Ukraine

When in June 2015 at the next briefing appeared Marie Harf, deputy Psak, the Russian segment of the Internet almost plunged into mourning. Everyone thought that Jen Psak's remarks led to her dismissal. But the "Runet Star" hurried to refute these rumors on Twitter: "I'm fighting the propaganda machine of the Russians and I'm staying here, just like a strong democratic Ukraine."

The doctrines of Russia are "armed aggression"

When reports appeared in August about the upcoming exercises of Russian troops from the Central and Western districts, Jen again dumbfounded everyone with the news: "Such exercises can be recognized as open provocation and aggression ... The Russians need to urgently remove their troops from the Ukrainian border." Recall that the exercises were conducted at the Ashuluk range, from which to the nearest Ukrainian farms not one hundred kilometers.

Admired by geographical knowledge of Americans, Nikolai Valuev promised to send Jane a parcel with a map of our country. In the same vein, our Ministry of Defense expressed its opinion, advising Psak to study not only the pages of social networks, but also encyclopedias, paying special attention to the geographical atlas.

Open recognition of the "Maidan in Hong Kong"

In October 2014, Jen very carelessly mentioned the funding of US protests in Hong Kong. She directly informed the journalists that the US government coordinated the distribution of funds by directing them to these funds. Soon she changed her mind and did not answer any more slippery questions.

About Boots and Other

Despite its uneasy relations with geography, the representative of the State Department is still an ordinary woman, who is very concerned about her appearance. In particular, she always attends conferences with skillfully selected accessories and an ideal hairdo. But here it was not without incident: one day, Jen came to a briefing in one boot. However, this time there was nothing amusing here, since she simply injured her leg and was forced to walk in a fixing bandage.

Personal life

About the personal life of politics is very little known, since she herself does not like to spread on this topic. To date, it is known about the existence of Sister Stephanie, who also lives in Washington and also works in the political sphere. Jen Psak's husband is Gregory Mecher, for whom she married in 2010. He works in the Democratic National Committee. Jen herself often emphasizes that at work her main boss is President Obama, but the main man in her life is Greg. What else is known about Jen Psak? Children until recently were not her priority, but today she is on vacation due to the birth of a child.
