How to prepare a tasty and useful cherry preserves for winter

Jam from cherry, sweet, slightly tart, will be an excellent preparation for the winter. Berries usually ripen to the middle of summer, often a very large harvest. The bird cherry trees are unpretentious and do not need any special conditions and care. In addition, their fruits contain many vitamins (PP, E, C) and trace elements, amino acids and phytoncides, both fresh, and jam or jam. Bird cherries, useful properties of which have been known since ancient times, has a general strengthening and bactericidal effect on the body. In addition, it is able to improve the work of the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore jam or jam of berries will be so useful in the cold season, when our immunity needs additional support.

How to boil cherry jam

For 1 kilogram of berries you will need:

  • 1.2 kg of granulated sugar;
  • A tablespoon of fresh lemon juice.

Bird cherry clear of garbage - leaves and twigs, wash and dry. After transfer the berries to the basin, pour the sugar, mix and leave overnight. During this time, the fruits of the bird cherry will give the juice, it needs to be drained into a separate bowl. After add the juice collected to the berries and cook for another 15 minutes. Wild cherry preserves

You can make a billet not from whole berries, but from mashed through a sieve. For 1 kg bird cherry you will need:

  • glass of water;
  • 250-300 g of granulated sugar.

Combine the berries and rinse, then put in a saucepan. Add a little water and cook until the bird cherry is soft. Berry mass pee through a sieve, add sugar and mix thoroughly. Lay out the billet on the cans, close the lids and sterilize it in boiling water for twenty minutes. After cool and place in a cold place to be stored until winter.

Compote from bird cherries for the winter

In addition to jam, other billets are popular from berries, for example compote. For its preparation you will need:

  • 1 kilogram of ripe berries;
  • 300 g of granulated sugar;
  • 1.2 liters of water.

Be sure to brew the bird cherry before brewing, berries should be ripe, but not crumpled and spoiled, then your compote will be rich, tasty, beautiful bright ruby color. Boil the water in a saucepan, and then pour the berries and cook for a couple of minutes. Remove the dishes from the cooker. Berries put in a separate container for compote, and pour out the water. Now cherry must be filled with sugar syrup (boil the specified amount of water with sugar) and leave for 5-7 hours. After that, the berries must be pulled out of the container, filled with sterilized cans about a quarter, and the syrup in which they languished, boiled again, and then poured to the fruit. Done - now roll the compote covers, cool a little and store in a dark place. About a month later the berries will give all the juice, the drink will turn out to be rich and very tasty.
