How to save a photo in "Lightroom"? "Lightrum 5"

The program "Light" from the famous company Adobe is designed for quick sorting of photos, creating slide shows and albums. In addition, the editor allows you to retouch and correct images in various ways. About how to edit and how to save a photo in "Lightroom", we'll talk in this article. Consider the work of the editor will be an example of the fifth version.

Saving photos in "Lightroom"

There is no usual "Save" button in the "Lightroom" program. Most often in this editor correct the photos in the RAW format. You can save the changed image only by export. Select the desired photos in the Library module, which will be described below. Immediately several images can be selected by using the Ctrl or Shift keys. Then click on the Export button located on the left side of the program window at the bottom (you will see it only if you are in the Library module). You can also just right-click on the photo and go to the same line in the pop-up menu that appears. Export is also performed through the File menu. After clicking on the Export button, a window appears in which you can edit the save settings.

Save settings

So, how to save a photo in "Lightroom"? In the Export To section, select where to save the files. This is usually Hard Drive (computer hard drive). Then you can select the same folder where the original files or any other files lie. The second option (Specific folder) is usually more convenient. Similarly, when you export several photos at once, you can place them in the same folder and not search for them later in different folders. Below you can give names to the files, as well as choose the format (usually Jpeg), the quality (slider) and the color space (most often RGB) in which they will be saved. Next is the Image Sizing tab, in which you can change the size of the picture. If necessary, the width and length of the saved photo is set here. In the Output Sharpening tab, adjust the sharpness of the saved image.

Below it is a line for the installation of a watermark. In the Watermarking drop-down menu, select Edit Watermarkis. Next, in the opened window, you can enter the desired text of the watermark. There is quite a lot of fonts available. If desired, you can also use a previously drawn picture as a watermark . Transparency of the inscription is adjustable. In addition, it can be changed in other ways: shift, rotate, select size, make shadows, shade.

The latest command determines what the program will do after exporting the photo. The editor can open saved images in Photoshop, open the folder into which they are saved, and so on.

As you can see, exporting files in the "Lightroom" program is not such a complicated procedure as it may seem at first glance. Further we will make a short review of this program.

Open the photo

Let's see how to open a photo in the Lightroom. The files in this editor are not opened, but are imported. In order to select the photos that require processing, go to the main menu File - Import Photos from Disk ... On the left side, after clicking the photo import button and the File menu, the folder tree is displayed. After switching to the desired in the working window, the pictures contained in it appear. You can select the necessary ones by ticking them. Then click the Import button at the bottom of the window.

Module Library

After the photos have been imported, several buttons will appear at the top of the editor window. These are the main sections in which you can work. Most photo processing in "Lightroom" is performed in the modules Library (Library) and Develop (development). In Library, you can view images, apply quick settings to them and move pictures between folders. The last ones are shown on the left in the Folders menu. You can work only with those folders, photos of which have already been imported. On the right under the histogram is a list of presets (Saved Preset) that can be applied to the photo. In the Quick Develop menu, fast surface processing is performed in the "Lightroom". If you want, it's easy to change the tone, brightness, contrast, photo exposure, etc. The bottom right also has a Keyword Tags menu. Here you can leave any comments to the images.

The Develop module

How to save a photo in "Lightroom", how to open it and how to perform basic editing, we have reviewed. Now we'll figure out what means of serious adjustment exist in Lightroom. In the Library section, only small, quick changes are made. The main work on image correction is carried out in the module Develop.

On the left, in the "Presets" window, there are various presets for the photo, created independently or already built into the editor. In the Snapshots section, you can take pictures while working with images. This is a temporary copying of the state of the photo at the moment. Such a picture remains relevant only in the process of working with the current image. If you want, you can make several such copies of the photo at different stages of its processing. This is useful if you need to compare the state of the picture before making changes and after. In addition, all stages of photo processing are saved in the History section, which is below Snapshots. All the main editing tools in the module Develop are located on the right. Consider the possibilities of the editor in this regard in more detail.

Tools of the editor "Lightrum"

So, how to process a photo in "Lightroom"? The first tool that can be seen under the histogram in the panel on the right, in the Develop module, is Croop (trimming, framing). It is designed for cropping pictures to the desired size. Using this tool, you can, among other things, align the photo with a littered horizon, rotating it. You do not need to manually scale it, as in Photoshop.

Next on the panel is a cloning tool (analog stamp in the editor "Photoshop"). Next is the red-eye correction tool. The last tool "Gradient" you can select a separate part of the photo (create a mask) and adjust this area by any means of the program. On the same panel is another selection tool "Radial gradient" (there is only in "Light 5"), as well as an ordinary brush for creating masks.

Bookmark Basik

All the fixed assets intended to correct the photo itself are found below - in the Basik tab. The first - Temp - is intended to change the color temperature of the picture. With Tint, you can simultaneously change the hue. It is also possible to automatically select the temperature using a pipette. Below are the tools for changing exposure, brightness, contrast, adjusting the glare, working with shadows, etc. All adjustments made in the photo are displayed on the histogram.

Even lower are the tools for editing the clarity and color saturation. In the latter case, it is better to use the Vibrance slider to make changes to the image. With its help, you can perform milder, gentle changes without manifesting a strong acidity of color. To reset the settings made by means of any bookmark, double-click on the name of the tool.

The Tone Curve tab

Below the Basik tab is the Tone Curve tab. Here you can make more subtle changes in the tone or sharpness of the photo, using curves. Work can be done in one of the color channels. By pipetting, you can select a specific editing area. In the same tab, work with a hue (Hue), saturation (Saturation) and brightness (Luminance) of colors. And each of them can be adjusted separately. Work can be performed in one of three tabs - HSL, Color and Grayscale.

Thus, we have figured out how to save the photo in "Lightroom" and how to process it in this program. Of course, this editor is simpler than the same Photoshop, but with its help you can get quite high-quality images.
