How to make a book?

Despite technical progress, reading remains one of the man's favorite pastimes. One can even say that this very progress only supports it in the modern world by means of the ability to read from a computer, a special device (electronic book), and also print the works of the beloved author on his own printer. It is the latter option that does not allow you to miss the rustle of leafing through book pages and other trifles. However, often reading a printed book can be inconvenient because of an unusual format or unfinished pages, which are also constantly confused and lost. The solution is to make a book with your own hands. To do this, you need to go through several steps to create it.

Step 1

The first thing you need to set certain settings in a text editor (preferably, a standard Microsoft Word). The sheet is set in A5 format. It is best when the upper, outer and lower margins are within 10-16 mm, internal - 25-30 mm. Font - to taste. Next, you need to make a document in pdf format.

Step 2

The second step is printing. Before creating a book, you need to decide how many sheets will be in the brochure. The optimal number of sheets per sheet is eight (32 pages). First you need to write out the page numbers for the printout, keeping in mind that they are exactly 32. This will help to avoid possible gaps and other problems. Next, select the "brochure printing" function. Here, the settings may differ depending on whether you have a two-sided printer or not. If you do not have this device, and you have already decided to close the tab with the article "How to make a book with your own hands," do not rush! You can use a virtual printer, creating a file for printing and transfer it to the nearest copy-center.

Step 3

The next stage of work is gluing the book block. To successfully overcome this "level" you will need a printout, a press, PVA glue with a brush, a cardboard and an awl, a dense fabric, a hard paper for the fly-end. A list of the actions to be performed will also be a good helper.

This stage is considered the most difficult and responsible, since to make a book, having missed at least one of its points, is practically unreal.

Printout is sorted by the notebooks, which are then bent in half and laid out in a stack. On the cardboard are made marks for holes, which determine the number of stitches inside each notebook. To make the holes it was easier, a tissue is placed under the paper.

Then the resulting book block is clamped in a vice. This will improve the quality of the central folds. While the vice is doing its work, you are doing the flyby. The block root should protrude slightly from the vice. After some time, it is coated with glue, and the fabric is glued on top. At this stage, nothing can be changed, so if suddenly one of the notebooks is not in its place, blame yourself.

Step 4

Asking the question "How to make a book?", You can not ignore one more thing "How to make a book cover?". This is what you need to do while everything sticks together.

For the cover you need tight cardboard, a piece of cloth, a brush with glue (you can do the same) and a list of successive actions. The ready-made cover plan is transferred to the cardboard. Then he and the fabric are cut out. Cardboard is glued to the fabric, it is wrapped and glued together. The cover must also be held under the press.

Step 5

When the cover is ready, the book block is stitched with the help of a gypsy needle and thread of a mulina. After that, the book block is cut off, then cutting through the block several pages, a full cut is made.

Step 6

At the final stage, the cover is glued. To do this, you need to smear the fabric on the book block and the cover itself with glue, wait until everything dries and connects. Then the same actions on the other side.

So, now you know how to make a book. The main thing - patience and attentiveness, and after a few hours you can enjoy your favorite work, "placed" in a book made with your own hands.
