How to deal with cockroaches in apartment buildings

The struggle with the colonies of cockroaches has been going on for more than a decade. And every time cockroaches win. With the advent of the first cell phones, these unpleasant insects disappeared from the field of view. However, a dozen years passed and they returned to their favorite habitats - warm apartments, houses, shops and offices. How to deal with cockroaches with such vitality?

An adult can live a month without food, 10 days without water, calmly live without oxygen for 45 minutes. The fertility of these nasty creatures can be envied. The female, being fertilized once in a lifetime, can reproduce itself to the end of its days. In addition, cockroaches are able to adapt to any adverse conditions. Yet there are several ways of how to deal with domestic cockroaches.

Where to begin?

There are often cases when the owners have tried all possible methods, but there is no sense. This may be due to the fact that cockroaches creep from neighbors through ventilation, cracks in the floor and plinths, holes in the ceiling for electrical wiring. Before you deal with cockroaches, you need to find the source of occurrence, or, more precisely, the penetration of insects into the apartment.

All cracks should be immediately closed. The usual mounting foam will help , we carefully foam all the holes and begin the struggle with those who stayed in the apartment.

How to deal with cockroaches effectively?

To help come a variety of ways - from chemical drugs to improvised funds.

  • The simplest and most effective method is the use of insecticides. These are gels, ointments, poisoned baits and crayons that kill the cockroach. The most famous and proven for many years: "Dohloks", "Raptor", "Global", "Reid". These funds are applied to places where you can most often see insects - plinths, walls behind kitchen furniture, near the cracks. The principle of the action of contact chemicals, that is, the infected cockroach transmits poison at a meeting with relatives and the whole colony dies out. These tools should be treated with caution, especially if the house has small children and pets.
  • An effective method of how to deal with cockroaches is the use of boric acid. If you have boric acid, it is boric alcohol (sold in pharmacies), then you can cook the poisoned paste yourself. Take 1 tsp. Boric acid and the same amount of starch, it is mixed and 100 ml of hot water is added. The paste needs to be cooled with the help of a cotton wool disc, and spraying cockroaches on the habitat. The effect will not appear right away, but after 5 to 7 days the number of domestic insects will decrease significantly.
  • The most common species are red and black cockroaches. There is an opinion that redheads are more adapted, and therefore it is more difficult to get them out. But there are plenty of effective ways to deal with black cockroaches . One of them is boric acid powder. It is scattered in small amounts on the floor in corners and secluded places, or mixed with any edible bait.
  • Aerosols, in particular "Dichlophos", still exist. They are used less often due to high toxicity for humans. But such a tool should be at hand when you see a single cockroach. It is much easier to get rid of the cockroach immediately, and not to lay baits and not wait for the effect for several days.
