Iron casting is an effective way to strengthen the material

Concrete construction or screed made in the yard, often have to protect from external exposure to moisture, frost and sun.

Therefore, the question arises as to how to properly strengthen the outer layer of this material, make it moisture resistant, durable and durable. To do this, apply a special technology, such as ironing concrete. This process is in many cases necessary in the construction. After the concrete works are completed , you can soon see the appearance of water on the surfaces. This is due to the fact that the heavy components of this material - cement, sand and crushed stone - go down, displacing water. As a rule, at the same time, the top layer becomes sandy and less durable because of the lowering of the cement concentration. And in order to protect and strengthen it from water and other atmospheric and physical influences, technology is used - the ironing of concrete.

The quality of this process depends on compliance with certain requirements and, first of all, the top layer of this material should not be allowed to dry out. Before ironing, it must be moist and not exposed to direct sunlight. In general, this process is not complicated. At home, it is possible to produce concrete ironing by hand. The main thing is that at the same time you need to know what are the ways of implementing this process and what material to use in doing so.

There are two ways to implement such a protective coating. The first is the fermentation of concrete with cement sieved on a sieve. This is a "dry" method of this process. There is also a "wet" method - sifted cement, diluted water with the addition of liquid glass or sodium aluminate. Other impurities and additives may also be present in the mixture to improve the moisture resistance and strength of the coating.

In the first case, using a dry cement, it is possible to add a powder of quartz for strength. In this way, the ironing of concrete of horizontal surfaces is performed. At the same time, the cement is poured into a fine sieve and sprinkled evenly on the fresh concrete, tapping the sieve. The specified layer should be within three millimeters. Then use a spatula or special trowel to compact the dry mixture over the entire surface of the concrete. Cement thus draws moisture from the surface of fresh concrete and turns into a liquid dough. Now this mixture is smeared to a smooth glossy surface over the entire area of the horizontal concrete screed.

Another method is used on surfaces from which dry cement can fall. In this case, use a "wet" method. To do this, it is necessary to sift the cement first into a container and prepare the mixture, adding water and various strengthening impurities and moisture-proof components. Then, with a spatula, this mixture is applied to the surface of the concrete with a layer of the same thickness as in the first method. Smooth also smoothly with a trowel master.

The wet method is considered more water resistant and durable. It can also be used on horizontal planes of freshly laid concrete. This method is the most effective.

If the fermentation of concrete is made in a place where direct sunlight is possible, then it is better to plan the work so that it is produced after sunset, in the evening.
