Kakhovskaya station - metro museum

The station "Kakhovskaya" is a metro, considered one of the oldest in the Russian capital. In general, the first branch of the Moscow subway opened in the spring of 1935, and this transport node has been fully operational since 1969.

In August of this year, the section of the Moscow metro line from Avtozavodskaya station to the new one began to function, which later became known as Kakhovskaya. The length of this site was 9.5 km.

Section 1. General description of the object

From an architectural point of view, the Kakhovskaya station is a subway station. It refers to the type of reference stations, which differ in that they have additional overlapping supports. The construction of stations of this type was widespread in the late 60's - early 70's. 20th century. Since the supports are installed in 2 rows, each of which has 40 columns, this type received a joking name "centipede". The step between the columns is 4 m.

Section 2. History of construction of the metro station "Kakhovskaya" (Moscow)

During the construction of the station, a standard project was used. The concept of "typical" in this case refers to the technical equipment, which, thanks to its perfection, has long been used without changes. At the same time, interior decoration and bright solutions of architects contribute to the fact that each station subsequently represents an original object, very expressive and unlike other typical stations.

The station "Kakhovskaya" received its name from the street Kakhovka, which you can go to one of the exits from it (all the exits to the city from this station 8). Through the underground vestibules today you can go to the streets of Kakhovka and Yushunskaya, as well as to Chongar and Simferopol boulevards. In the center of the hall you can go to Serpukhovsko-Timiryazevskaya line - under this station Sevastopolskaya was later built. As a rule, the metro "Kakhovskaya" map of the city shows clearly, so problems with orientation on the ground usually does not arise either from the Muscovites themselves or from the guests of the capital.

Section 3. Features of the station and the reasons for its popularity

Ceiling lighting of the hall of the station creates an emphasis on the ribbed surface of the ceiling. In general, the station "Kakhovskaya" is a metro, for the design of the floor, granite of gray color and labradorite was used. For finishing the columns - marble red-brown color. Such a color solution contributes to the formation of a solemn mood.

The person who first came to this station and does not hurry about his business, noticing anything on the way, can fully feel the strict beauty of the hall. At the same time, the thematic insets on the walls, dedicated to the heroes of the Civil War, create a special mood - there is a feeling that you are in the museum.

The station "Kakhovskaya" is a metro, the finishing of columns of which is of interest to paleontologists. Specialists in this field note that marble for columns refers to two types, although for the uninitiated in a special field of knowledge all the facing material seems to be the same. If you carefully look at the surface of marble tiles on polyhedral columns, you can see very interesting, and sometimes unique fossils. Cephalopod mollusks, sea urchin needles , gastropod shells and fragments of lilies ... all can be seen on the surface of the tiles that were used to finish the columns in the metro. Station "Kahovskaya", in addition to its main function, really performs the function of the museum hall!
