"General salad" - the highlight of the festive table

At a party you probably at least once offered to try a snack under the sonorous name of "General Salad". And in each house under this name meant a new dish that does not have anything in common with others. What kind of salad is this? And what was the main recipe, and what are the later variations? Now it is difficult to judge this. It is important that all this collection of salads necessarily enjoy the higher military ranks, who, as you know, like to eat tasty and dense. Yes, after all, something similar makes such different "generals" snacks: it's their satiety. The calorie salad may well be the main dish for lunch. Those who are on a tight diet, we recommend that the article is not read further.

Salad "General" with radish

First, we put five large potatoes, medium beetroot and two or three carrots in a uniform. Radish (it is better to take a black, but you can also white) and three on a fine grater. Let's leave the juice. Separately cook hard-boiled four eggs. Smoked chicken is cleaned from bones so that 300 g of pure meat are obtained. We cut it into pieces. If you are a vegetarian, chicken can be replaced with the same amount of fried mushrooms. Welded and cooled vegetables are cleaned and grated on a grater (each ingredient in a separate bowl). We squeeze the radish and drain the juice. Clean and cut or three single large sweet and sour apple. The middle bulb is also comminuted in a similar way. In a transparent dish, we begin to fold the salad in this order: potatoes, radish, carrots, chicken or mushrooms, onions, apple, eggs and beets. Each layer is blotted with mayonnaise. We put in a cold place for impregnation. Before serving, we decorate with chopped yolk, greens, nuts or olives.

"Olivier in the General's epaulettes"

Do you want to diversify the festive menu? Then replace the usual Olivier with "General" salad. Varim, as in the previous recipe, potatoes, beets, carrots. Cool, clean, three. In the beet, add crushed garlic clove. Red salad bulb finely sliced, pickled in vinegar, wine or simply scalded with boiling water to remove bitterness. Boil hard boiled and finely cut three eggs. We put 100 grams of butter into the freezer. Two or three salted cucumbers finely chopped. We prepare the dressing: in equal proportions we mix sour cream and mayonnaise. We start to lay the salad over the layers. Half of the potatoes go to the bottom, then onions, then the rest of the potatoes. Canned peas (100 g) we will filter and place in a salad the fourth layer. The fifth will have eggs, and the sixth - cucumbers. Do not forget to coat each layer with dressing. For this kind of cake we place half of the beets with garlic. Three on top of it is frozen butter. We close the remaining beets. We put it in the refrigerator to insist.

Meat Salad "General"

The recipe for chicken, which we brought first, is different from this, meat. In addition to beef or lean pork (400 g), another 150 grams of hard cheese and a handful of nuts are added to this salad. First we boil in salted water with spices meat. When it cools down, cut into small pieces. Add to it a crushed red onion and 2-4 cloves of garlic. We fill this mixture with mayonnaise. This is the first layer. We spread to the bottom of the transparent salad bowl, level. Two cooked in a peel or the baked beets we grind on a grater, we fill with mayonnaise. We place on top of meat. The third layer is a grated carrot (one piece) with mayonnaise. We also do the same with three boiled eggs - crumb, fill, spread from above. Now the salad should be infused in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Before serving, you need to put on it the last, the topmost layer - it is made of grated cheese and nut crumb.

Salad instead of lunch

This, perhaps, is the most salutary salad "General". The recipe offers to cook it with chicken, and with fried mushrooms. First we boil the breast or fillets, remove the skin and bones, finely chop the meat. This layer, like all the rest, is lubricated with mayonnaise. Next, put onions - chopped finely and fried in oil until golden. We put on it a layer of finely chopped eggs. Then spread out a smooth layer of canned sweet corn. On top of it is comfortable potatoes - cooked and finely chopped. At the very top, we have fried mushrooms with a small amount of sour cream. We put the entire structure in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. Before serving, sprinkle with hard cheese and fresh herbs. On a holiday, this dish can be "ennobled", putting in it the first layer of steamed and finely chopped prunes. In this case, in the eggs we separate the protein, which is mixed with mayonnaise. The yolk will go to decorate the salad.

"Winter sun"

This is another salad "General" with mushrooms, only to it is added fish. Optimum here will look canned pink salmon. We open the jar and fork to knead the contents into the gruel (do not drain the oil). This salad is interesting because it does not need to boil vegetables beforehand. Just cut a small onion, three small carrots. Fry them with a small amount of oil separately. The bottom layer is the fish (half the can). We put onions on it. The third layer is fried mushrooms. Above the gifts of the forest are placed eggs, visited with garlic. Above is the fish again. At the top - fried carrots. Need I say that all the layers should be generously flavored with mayonnaise? I think you already guessed the taste of the high command.

Crab "Chile Concern"

Have you ever tried this famous Mexican dish? It is a red bean with meat (it is cooked in a spicy tomato sauce). You can make an original "General" salad on this principle, but instead of beef add crabs (or surimi). First, soak the beans for the night, then cook it until ready, let's cool it. Separately in the oil fry mushrooms. Also we grind them. Of course, where without eggs? Boil a couple of pieces, finely sow. We will fry onion until golden. Now put layers of our salad: the first - crushed crab sticks on the grater. Then onions, mushrooms, beans. In mayonnaise squeezed out a couple of cloves of garlic, this dressing is smeared every layer and decorate the top of the dish.

Almost "Shuba"

And this "General" salad is made according to the principle of the famous herring under a fur coat. As you know, you need to take fat herring, potatoes, onions and beets for it. But we will supplement the "proletarian" set with bourgeois excesses. Hard cheese we will squeeze into a large shavings and we will place between a fish and a potato. Fried in oil with the addition of a small amount of honey agaric mushrooms will be located above the herring. Immediately under the beets will be a layer of minced boiled eggs. Mayonnaise, as in the previous recipe, we impregnate with garlic. It turns out a great holiday snack for vodka.

Workpiece for a rainy day

Do you know that there is also a home-made piece called "Salad General"? The recipe for winter tells us to cut a kilo of cucumbers in circles, and the same number of tomatoes - slices. Three hundred grams of carrots are large three, from sweet peppers we remove the peduncle with seeds, we cut the flesh with strips. A quarter of a head of cabbage is shredded with straws, and two onions are half rings. Mix all the vegetables in a glass or enameled container, add 4 spoons of salt, twice the amount of sugar. We pour half a glass of sunflower oil and vinegar. Let's brew for about three hours. Then we lay out the prepared banks and sterilize them (half-liter - 20 minutes, and large - half an hour). Cool them under the blanket and hide for the time being in a cool place.
