Frequencies of Russian radio stations: from analogue to digital

There were times (and not so long ago), when the issue of the frequency of radio stations was not raised at all, or was put exclusively by specialists in the field of communications. Because for the people there were nothing of these frequencies, and they were called in a simple way - the first button, the second button. And there were two or three official radio stations in the country - "All-Union Radio", "Mayak", "Youth" ... Others do not remember. Unless the enemy's "Voices", which were carefully suppressed by the secret services.

Less than a quarter of a century ...

In the early 90's of last century the real boom of radio began. The empire collapsed, the "buttons" were shuffled in places, and the newly established "Radio of Russia" was firmly established on the first. The usual wire radio broadcasting in the form of small receivers still remained in the kitchens and caught the same two frequencies of radio stations "Russia" and "Mayak". But already at full speed, the ethereal space was being mastered by those pioneers who were lucky enough to grab the best waves from an uncharted "radio rooster". Every day new, mostly commercial, small stations appeared on the air and started to struggle for the attention of radio listeners.

Whose in the wood of the cones

Today the list of frequencies of radio stations can hardly be re-read at one time. Freedom! The only question is who will be able to get a license for his wave, more precisely, who will have enough money to open his radio station. On the Russian media market of electronic media there is an absolute monopolist - FSUE VGTRK (Federal State Unitary Enterprise "All-Russian State Broadcasting Company"). And the majority of licenses for broadcasting activity - that on television, that on radio - this structure gives out.

The age of figures has come

Analog broadcasting practically ceased to exist. The first to switch off wire radio, the so-called "kitchen". However, it was partially saved in Moscow. By the way, in the US they do not even think of giving up this single means of communication that can work without electricity. And it often comes to the rescue during natural cataclysms, when other connection with remote regions or farms becomes impossible.

So, digital broadcasting has become a fait accompli. Of course, this is a progress, although to receive a signal from the frequency of broadcasting stations, even the most common and popular, an ordinary radio listener needs to purchase a decoder and switch from analogue to digital.

Who is on which wave

The listener has the opportunity to choose the station according to his taste and discretion. Fortunately, now they are divided into formats - information, entertainment, music, romantic, just a party, and so on. Find the frequency of radio stations in Russia will not be difficult - for this there is advertising and the Internet. And the main channels have not changed their "propiska" on air for many years. So, Radio Russia is in the FM band from 66.44 MHz and higher, the frequency varies depending on the region. The channel has virtually universally abandoned long-wave, medium-wave and short-wave broadcasting. The problem is that the frequency up to 80.00 MHz can not be caught on all modern radios. For example, a good receiver in a car starts at 80 MHz and above. To date, lower frequencies have been preserved only on cheap home receivers or old-style music centers.

The most beloved once radio station "Mayak" goes on wave 67.22 FM, "Echo of Moscow" - 73.82 FM. True, the "Lighthouse" is still preserved in the shortwave band at a frequency of 549.

There is also a VHF FM broadcasting, the so-called "bourgeois standard" with good listening ability - from 88 to 108 MHz. This package includes also solid stations - the same "Echo of Moscow", "Avtoradio", "Radio Maximum", "Radio of Russia Nostalgie", "Hope", "Militia Wave" - and many secondary.

Fortunately, there is a separate "Children's radio" with a license for broadcasting in 34 regions of Russia. In each region this channel has its own frequency, for example, in Moscow it is 96.8 FM, in Krasnodar - 88.7 FM, in St. Petersburg 107.3 FM.

Voices from behind the cordon

The World Wide Web is often called a "worldwide dump" - because of the qualitative heterogeneity of the contents of the virtual space. And it is hardly possible to significantly affect this process. Something similar is happening now in the media space. The ethical component of the modern television product, offered daily to the Russian consumer, does not stand up to any criticism. In comparison with this, the frequencies of radio stations, for all their diversity, are more restrained. Although there are many stations that understand the meaning of freedom of speech in a peculiar way. But this is a completely different matter.

If earlier all attempts to catch and listen to foreign radio waves were punishable by the law, now there are almost no problems with this. So, "Radio Liberty" broadcasts freely from Prague in the range from 68.00 MHz. The BBC has been occupying an average wave of 1260 kHz for many decades. "Voice of America" is on the wave of "World Radio" at a frequency of 810 kHz. Constantly broadcast and other "Voices" - Korea, Iran, Vietnam.

And by and large the frequencies of radio stations, both Russian and foreign, are not kept secret today. They are available both technically and informatively. All of them have their own Internet versions, so you can listen to the radio online at least 24 hours a day. The main thing is to find your wave and not lose it in this huge information flow.
