Can I remove pigment nevus

The appearance of accumulations of pigment cells on the surface of the skin is a pigmentary nevus. As a rule, they begin to appear in childhood or adolescence (with the process of growth of the body). Externally pigmented nevi can differ. These are flat or protruding above the dermal surface of the spot, smooth or covered with hairs.

Of course, the appearance of nevi is not a serious problem for a person, but with any changes you should contact a specialist to prevent negative consequences. Often a sharp increase in the size or structure of the nevus is the first signal that a malignant process begins inside the body.

The main risk factors that can provoke a malignant process are a large number of nevi on the surface of the human skin, frequent sunburns of severe severity, predisposition to oncological diseases and others.

There are several types of these formations. The first variety is the dysplastic nevus, which is a stain of irregular shape and fuzzy boundaries. As a rule, they are somewhat larger than the usual birthmark in size, and the color varies from a rusty-brown to a brown shade (without pronounced inflammation of the skin).

The next species is a border pigment nevus, which is often dark in color and has a smooth surface. Appears both at birth and throughout life. For this species there is no specific place, so it can be formed on the limbs, face, neck, genitals, on the trunk, etc.

The third type is a blue nevus pigment, whose name originated from the color of the spot. The structure of the spot is pronounced, with clear boundaries, a small size in diameter. Appears during puberty. As a rule, it is more common among the peoples of Asia.

Intradermal pigment nevus is usually called a birthmark, which is practically in every person. As a rule, they are congenital and have a brownish hue.

It should be noted that in some cases it is necessary to remove the nevus. Removal is assigned and performed only by an experienced specialist who previously assesses the complexity of the operation and the possible risks. For example, the cosmetic removal of a birthmark is not particularly necessary, since it has no malignant changes.

Careful attention should be paid to flat spots, which often increase in size and change their structure. Achieving a spot larger than 6 mm in diameter should be the reason for contacting a doctor, since it is possible that this is the beginning of melanoma development. A specialist in oncology will study the tumor, after which he will make the right decision (observation or surgical removal of the nevus).

The main indications for removal of the nevus are cosmetic and oncological. For each group of indications, a specific method of disposal is implied. For cosmetic purposes, liquid nitrogen, electric current, laser, surgery, etc. can be used. In the second case, only surgical intervention is applied, after which the removed part of the skin is sent for histological examination.

It should be remembered that after the direct removal of pigment nevus, proper skin care is necessary. As a rule, at first a crust is formed, which is not recommended to be wetted and removed on its own. In the summer, it is advisable to protect the place from direct sunlight (sunscreen, limitation of exposure to the sun, refusal of the solarium). In any case, carefully monitor your body to record the appearance and development of new pigment spots on time.
